Independent Study & Virtual application process
1.) Parent and student must go onto the AEC (Alternative Education Center) website - https://www.chino.k12.ca.us/47653_4
2.) The AEC is having informational meetings with dates in Blue on their front page via Zoom. The parent/student must attend one of these meetings. Links for the meeting are available on the AEC home page. https://www.chino.k12.ca.us/48471_4
3.) After the meeting is over the parent/student will get an application via a chat box, which they will fill out and immediately turn in. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KBkziRMJBkQ6aWOLOwIizjlS1CbrgQXX/view
4.) The AEC will notify parent/student if they have been accepted and notify home school.
5.) Counselors/administrators at the home school are no longer required to sign off on the application
The Independent Study program allows students to study at their own pace within the limits of attendance requirements. The program creates a bridge between the school and the community and provides alternatives for students to achieve mastery in basic skills. Independent Study is an optional alternative available to students in grades 9 through 12. Click here for more information.
The Virtual Program is a computer based platform that offers students a flexible schedule based on their needs. Virtual courses mirror the timeline that is set at the high school. Students take a full course load simultaneously per semester. All virtual courses are NCAA & UC approved. For more information Click here.
