It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell. The following information is based on guidance from the NHS, and we hope you find it helpful.Â
If you do keep your child at home, please either call or email the office to let us know, and be sure to specify the reason.
If we do not hear from you, we will contact you on the first day of your child's absence.
By law we are required to inform the Local Authority of any absences and may sometimes need to ask you for evidence... please do work with us if this is the case. If we do not have clear reason for your child's absence it will have to be marked as unauthorised and you may be issued with a fine from Barnet.
Coughs and colds
It's fine to send your child to school with a minor cough or common cold. But if they have a fever, keep them off school until the fever goes.
Encourage your child to throw away any used tissues and to wash their hands regularly.
