The primary role of an Inclusion Leader is to:
Assist your participant in engaging in camp activities
Support your participant during games, transitions, and social time with peers
Understand the individual needs and accommodations for your participant
Allow for differences in communication and expression (within program rules)
NOT
To create a separate and individualized program with participants doing their own activities because they want to.
Responsible for one participant at camp
Facilitate their buddy's participation in activities within their camp group
Primary focus is on monitoring their buddy's participation, sensoryu stimulation, and dysregulation
Sometimes are involved in one-on-one time with their buddy away from their group
Responsible for many participants in their camp group
Facilitate games and activities for many participants within camp groups
Primary focus is on monitoring overall safety and participation of campers
Never involved in one-on-one time with participants
We have different roles at camp, but we are all part of the same team and we all follow the same rules and expectations while at camp!
