Introductory Unit
Introductory Unit
The first week of the program focuses on fostering the culture of the classroom. The lessons define who we are and what we want to achieve as program participants. Then the introduction to HTML begins, what it is, and how it is used. The activities during this unit are aimed at building community among the young women.
Learning Unit
Learning Unit
In weeks two and three of the program, the introduction to CSS begins and how it can help us create more attractive pages. The “Mujeres en Foco” activity is also introduced, in which women who are scientists, Hispanics, and leaders in their fields are highlighted as inspiration for young women.
Change Unit
During the last two weeks of the program, the girls give them a first visit to the final project: How to use this tool to help my community. In this, the participants create a web page with the purpose of creating a change or raising awareness about a problem in their communities. The participants then create an oral presentation about their projects and their experience in this camp. To complete the program, students present their projects and receive a certificate of participation.
