In-Person Learning

All families will have the option to opt in to hybrid learning beginning May 10th, 2021. Our Reopening Hub will continue to be an up-to date resource for families to access student schedules and find in-person learning resources.

For all scholars, Wednesdays will be completely remote (at-home learning) to allow for a deeper cleaning of our building. We will also continue our traditional schedule of a half day dismissal for teacher professional development in the afternoon.

Schedules

Q3 Hybrid DL Schedule
Q4 In Person/Remote Student Schedules

Arrival Procedures

In order to limit the number of students entering the building, we will be staggering arrival and dismissal times.

Staff will assist with student arrival and ensure the following steps are being taken for all students. See our Health & Safety section for further details.

  • Temperature is under 100.4* F

  • Hands are sanitized

  • Health Screener is completed

  • Mask is on and covering their nose and mouth

  • Uniform checked (Collegiate top, solid bottoms)

After completing all steps, scholars may proceed to their Homeroom, which will be their pod’s classroom location for the remainder of the day.

Prior to arrival, all students, staff, and family members will engage in symptom self-monitoring. If your scholar has been exposed to any at-risk situations or has any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, please keep them home for their own safety and the safety of our community. We have asked our staff to follow the same guidelines for your scholar’s safety as well.

  • COVID-19 Symptoms include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea

Visitor Policy

Visitor Policy

Per current public health guidelines, we will not allow more than 50 people in one space at any given time. To further reduce the number of people in the building and possible contamination, visitors will not be allowed in school buildings without an appointment. Appointments may be made by calling the main office. Appointments will be limited to those that are absolutely necessary, which will ultimately be determined by the Principal and/or Director of School Operations.

Upon arrival, visitors may also be asked to wait outside until meeting space and/or the person who they are meeting with is available.

If families would like to speak with a staff member, we strongly encourage them to call or email the staff member to schedule an appointment for a meeting via phone or Zoom. Students and families can reach any staff members by phone or email until 8:00 PM.

Visitors who are granted entry must complete the Health Screener before building entry. Visitors will be given a temperature check and must wear a mask at all times inside the building. Once inside, visitors should sanitize or wash their hands upon entry and dismissal. Visitors should also maintain 6 feet of social distance with all others.

No family members will be allowed to observe classrooms or enter any classrooms while they are in session.

Pod Model

  • A pod of students and staff will allow for an easily identifiable group to remain together for all in-person instruction and activities during a school day. Student pods will be kept stable with minimal interaction with other pods. Social distancing measures will be in place between students across pods.

  • Assigning pods will help to minimize interactions between students and instructional staff and reduce the potential for spread of COVID-19 within the school community.

  • Pods allow for rapid contact tracing and self-quarantine guidance to be quickly disseminated if a positive COVID-19 case occurs within a pod.

  • If a COVID-19 case is identified, potentially only that person’s pod may need to be quarantined instead of the entire school.

  • If a COVID-19 case is identified in a pod, quarantine is required for close contacts (defined as less than 6 feet apart for greater than 15 minutes). A student with COVID-19 in Pod A would not be considered a close contact with a student in Pod B. Thus only Pod A and the teacher would be quarantined.

    • If the teacher tested positive for COVID-19, both student pods would be considered close contacts and be asked to quarantine

Food & Water

Our food service vendor, Gourmet Gorilla, will provide breakfast and lunch to scholars that are returning to in-person learning. Scholars may bring in outside food or water into the building as long as it is healthy and meets our standards as a certified Healthy School. Outside drinks, such as flavored water, soda, coffee, is not allowed. Scholars may not share any food either brought in from home or provided by Gourmet Gorilla.

Shared water fountains will be closed off and only available to refill water bottles. We encourage all scholars to bring in a clear water bottle that they can refill throughout the day.

Social Distancing

Classroom Desks

Student desks will be stationed as far apart as feasible, meeting CDC requirements of at least 3-6 feet apart, in all classrooms. Desks will all be facing the same direction. The number of desks in each classroom will vary based on the size of the classroom (our class sizes have different capacities) and number of scholars who are electing to return to in-person learning. Scholars are to stay at their desk throughout the day (except to use the bathroom per the guidance below) and wear masks at all times.

Hallways

Due to the application of the pod model for both the middle school and high school, hallway traffic will remain relatively low throughout a majority of the day aside from entry, recess, and dismissal. There will be no pod transitions that overlap throughout the day. Expected hallway traffic will come from teachers transitioning to classrooms and students using the bathroom. All other traffic that may occur will occur with notification of the administration, such as a student needing a break or out of classroom consequence or a student needing to be escorted to the Care Room.

During high traffic times of the day such as arrival, recess, and dismissal, all staff will be on duty and assigned a position to assist with school systems, reinforce health policies, and monitor traffic flow. Throughout the day, administration will be monitoring hallways on a frequent basis to ensure there is no unnecessary hallway traffic.

There will be arrows posted on the floor to ensure students are maintaining as much social distance as possible. There will also be reminders posted on the hallways for students to walk on the right side of the hallway and left side for opposite direction traffic., walking on the marked sides of the hallway, and using the correct direction according to the signage.

Supplies, Technology, Cell Phones

Supplies

Upon returning for hybrid learning, scholars will be supplied with their own individual set of school supplies which will include pencils, headphones, a mask, and a small bottle of sanitizer. Any curriculum supplies that students will need will be purchased based on student counts so each student has their own set.

If surfaces or supplies are to be shared by multiple people, teachers and students will be instructed to disinfect the surface or supply with provided disinfectant wipes and disinfect their hands with sanitizer.

Technology

Middle School scholars will be required to bring their Collegiate chromebook and charger to school each day for hybrid learning.

Cell Phones

Cell phones will not be collected from scholars to avoid cross contamination, and should be kept inside scholar bookbags at all times and turned off during the school day.

We strongly encourage students not to bring expensive electronic devices to school. CCCS is not liable for items that come up missing or damaged during the school day or at the school.

If at any point a student is found to have an electronic device that is turned on and/or on his or her person, the device will be immediately confiscated by a staff member. A parent or guardian will have to schedule an appointment to pick up the device from the staff member.

Uniforms

We recognize we are opening at the end of the school year and not at the beginning. In every attempt to normalize our school routines and procedures, we will incorporate a modified uniform policy in which you see in the picture below.

Scholars who are hybrid learners will receive a free uniform shirt at Q3 family conferences. The uniform policy is that all scholars have on a

  • Collegiate top

  • Solid bottoms

  • Closed toed shoes

Families may also purchase Collegiate uniforms polos, sweatshirts, cardigans, pants, and masks on our Lands End Website (www.landsend.com/school) or over the phone to Lands End at 1-800-469-2222. Opt In Process

Diverse Learning Scholars that have received an invitation to return to the building for partial in-person learning will have until April 5 to accept their intent to return. All scholars are asked to complete the form indicating their intent to return to hybrid in-person learning or stay remote by April 19. After those dates, scholars that opted out of in-person learning may not opt back in.

We also understand that some families will prefer to keep their children home during a hybrid learning model. In recognition of the unprecedented nature of this pandemic and the need for flexibility, families will have the option to have their child learn from home full time.

Any scholars that accept the invitation may return to remote learning at any time. A consent form must be signed by a parent or guardian.
