My name is Anne Lawrence, and I’ve been happily married since 2012. I have two wonderful daughters—Hannah and Hailey. I graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, in 2007 with a Psychology degree. While at Rutgers, I played lacrosse for 4 years earning many different Big East titles. Shortly after I graduated, I was hired as a paraprofessional in the Chesterfield School District, where I discovered my passion for teaching. While working as a paraprofessional, I pursued my teaching certification through Rider University. In 2008, I had the privilege of student teaching with Mrs. Hartman in second grade at CES, which was a truly rewarding experience.
I've been teaching second grade at CES since 2009. I am excited to bring my experience and knowledge into the classroom once again. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where students can grow both academically and personally.
As a teacher, I pride myself on being patient, understanding, and flexible. I believe that students thrive when they have structure, clear expectations, and routines in place. My classroom is a space where we work hard, but also make time for fun. Above all, I encourage my students to always try their best. While I don’t expect them to master everything right away, I emphasize the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. I believe in the power of the word "yet." Instead of saying, "I can’t do this," or "I’m not good at this," we say, "I can’t do this... yet" or "I’m not good at this... yet." That simple shift can make a world of difference in their growth and confidence.
Outside of school, I stay active and enjoy many of the same activities you might! I love playing volleyball, pickleball, golf, and tennis. When I’m not on the court or field, I’m cheering on the Eagles and Phillies, spending time with my family, cooking, or reading—when I’m not busy coaching my kids’ sports teams or chasing them around, of course!
I am looking forward to another wonderful year in 2nd grade!
