We are excited to offer reading and performing arts programs that act as skill builders and extensions to your child's interests and learning abilities.  These classes combine motivational topics and activities that will enrich your child's summer experience.

Story Writing

Grades 5-6: Ever want to write your own story? This program is for you! Over several classes, you will compose at least one full story complete with complex characters and a compelling plot. You will learn the ins and outs of story writing, starting with the creation of well developed characters, and ending with revising and editing. You will learn effective writing techniques such as dialogue, suspense, pacing, transitioning, sensory details, and figurative language. Join this class and make your story come alive!

The Poetry of Taylor Swift

Grades 2-4:  Calling all Swifties! Do you know Taylor Swift’s songs by heart? Have you danced and sang along to the Eras Tour movie two, or three, or ten times? This two-week program will study the writing style of Taylor Swift songs we know and love, and teach you all about elements of songwriting and poetry. At the end of the program, you will create your very own book of Taylor Swift-style poetry, and friendship bracelets with the titles of your poems! 

Musical Theater Showcase

Grades 4-6:  Young singers, dancers, and actors will come together to experience musical theater skill-building! Students will have the opportunity to learn the elements and techniques of musical theater, including singing, dancing, acting, costuming, and stage production as they prepare for an end of the session performance. This will be the perfect place to build your confidence, collaborate, and share your skills and talents! Break a leg! 

Books Come Alive

Grades K-1:  Books Come Alive is an opportunity for students entering Kindergarten and 1st grade. The students will be exploring a variety of books, diving into comprehension, discussing the difference between Fiction and Non-Fiction, discussing the key details in the texts, and completing tasks and projects that relate to the texts. This program will strive to foster a continued love for reading and learning!
