Classroom Philosophy
5th grade is such a fun year! Students have spent the past five years learning and growing and are now the leaders of the school! This is a year for students to start to take on more responsibility before middle school. I hold students to high expectations and I know sometimes they will fail to meet those expectations - that's okay! This should be a safe place for your child to begin to stretch their wings and make mistakes before heading off to middle school! I would ask for families to work together with me to help support your child when they need it and to let them take risks when it is appropriate - know that I will always be here to support them on this end as well!

This is year 18 for me as an elementary school teacher, and my seventh year teaching 5th grade at Dakota Valley.
I have lived in Colorado since 1993. Before that, we moved around a lot as my dad was in the Army. I'm very happy we landed in Colorado!
I LOVE to be outside! Exploring nature on my own or with my family is my favorite place to be!...
...Other than my other favorite places...browsing Michaels, garden centers like Tagawa or Nicks, or specialty grocery stores like Savory Spice Shop at Southlands.
I love to work in and enjoy my garden. Flowers make me happy!
I also really love crafting. I am a "jack of all trades, master of none" type of crafter ;)
I love cooking and baking. Trying out new recipes and ingredients is so fun!
I have an amazing family! My husband is my high school sweetheart, and we have two kids. My son is in 10th grade at Eaglecrest and my daughter is starting middle school this year at Sky Vista!
Music and movement is a very important part of my life. I am in a jazz dance class, play piano, and sing. I'm learning a little guitar and ukulele. I almost always have music playing!
I love working together with families to help students have the greatest 5th grade year, and the best preparation and send-off into middle school!
