Kindergarten Art
Students will continue their Piet Mondrian studies and will be making hearts based on his art style. We will also do a Dr. Seuss project as we switched to our next unit, called American Illustrators.
Kindergarten Music
Students will be doing many songs and activities based on Dr. Seuss's rhymes. We will also start learning our songs for our upcoming Spring Art and Music Festival, Thursday, May 19th. I am so excited that we will be able to sing in person for this event.
Kindergarten PE
We will start our jump rope unit this week. Students will learn the basic handling skills as well as experiment with different jumping styles. We will learn some fun jumping rhymes along the way.
First Grade Art
First Grade Art
Students started learning about Vincent Van Gogh and started an oil pastel artwork based on his famous Sunflowers. This is a "new to me" project and so far it has been going wonderfully. I am so excited to see how their sunflowers come out. We are learning so many techniques through this art project and the students are having fun with the pastels.
Please note that I will be holding on to all art pieces until the end of the year. This allows me to select your child's favorite/best art piece to display in the Spring Art and Music Festival on Thursday, May 19th. All art will be returned to students after the festival. If you have any questions about their art grades, please do not hesitate to contact me. I'd be happy to share a picture of their work with a more detailed explanation of their grade.
First Grade Music
Mozart's famous singspiel (opera and talking) The Magic Flute is this month's music unit. The story includes a plot twist that never gets old to teach!!!
We will also start learning our songs for our upcoming Spring Art and Music Festival. I am super excited we can sing in person for this event.
First Grade PE
PE this week will focus on movement to music. We will be learning many different dances as well as get a head start on our Spring Music Festival dances!
Have a fantastic month!
