Music Syllabus 2021-2022

Welcome to music!

We are excited to serve our students at Cherokee Charter Academy. Our music teachers are Mrs. Elora White and Mrs. Deanna Smith . We believe that music is important for students to have an outlet for expressing emotions. We also believe in teaching students the elements of music and to have a basic understanding of how to read music. We look forward to seeing our students grow throughout the year!

Music grading policy

In music, students are expected to participate in songs and activities. Their grades will be based on our observing how the students are participating and completing written assessments.

Students are expected to:

  1. Try all activities

  2. Consistently give maximum effort

  3. Listens to and applies direction

  4. Shows enthusiasm

  5. Participates with all students

  6. Has a positive attitude

  7. Shows skill improvement


Behavior expectations:

Students are expected to:

  1. Make responsible choices

  2. Use equipment properly

  3. Show respect

  4. Involve themselves in class activities

  5. Cooperate with others

Parent communication

If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year you can contact us at music1@ cherokee.education (Mrs. White) or lmcclain@cherokee.education(Mrs. Deanna Smith). You will be able to follow your student's progress and view their grades by logging onto the PowerSchool that their classroom teacher has set up.

Curriculum

We are using the Core Knowledge curriculum, which addresses the South Carolina music standards.
