Common Scholarship Terms
A sum of money given to a student for the purpose of paying a least part of the college.
Scholarships can be awarded to student based on academic achievements, financial need or on many other factors. Scholarships and grants do not have to repaid.
A scholarship that can be awarded for multiple years. Called “renewable” because there is usually a minimum requirement (such as GPA) that must be met in order for the scholarship to be provided in future years.
Money offered to a student based on specific talent, such as academics, athletics, etc.
Money offered to a student based on financial status of the student and/or family.
Writing a college or scholarship essay can be intimidating but don’t let it stop you from getting into college and getting money to help pay for it!
