Top Ten Scholar
The Top Ten Scholar Award is W. F. West High School’s most prestigious recognition for academic scholarship. To qualify for the Top Ten Scholar Award, students must:
Meet qualifications for entrance into a four year college or university, the standard for W. F. West graduates published in the W. F. West Curriculum Guide.
Meet qualifications for an Honors Scholar Award or be a Running Start college student.
Have a GPA in the top ten for this group of scholars. This GPA is determined by the official transcript at the end of W. F. West fall semester or the community college winter quarter of the graduating year.
Top Ten Scholar Award recipients receive:
A W. F. West High School Scholar Medallion to wear at graduation.
The opportunity to wear a gold honor cord at graduation.
Special recognition at the scholarship and awards night, assemblies, and during the commencement ceremony.
Attend the Top Ten event with Centralia and W.F. West top ten students and families.
Honors Scholar Award
The Honors Scholar Award is W. F. West High School’s esteemed recognition for completion of rigorous college preparatory academic study. Our Honors program is designed to provide highly motivated students the opportunity to achieve their highest intellectual and creative potential. Honor Scholar Awards are offered for four pathways:
STEM, pages 3 & 4
English, pages 5 & 6
Humanities (Social Studies & World Language), pages 7 & 8
Performing Arts, pages 9 &10
Students may earn Honors in more than one pathway.
Students are advised to prepare for their honors scholar pathway(s) with their CCR Block advisor, school counselor, parents/guardians, and teachers in the desired area(s) of focus. Students will submit the Honors Scholar Verification Form(s) senior year to their department leader in the honors pathway for a signature. Spring course completion will be verified by the counseling center.

W. F. West High School Career and Technical Education
Certificates of Proficiency Program
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certificates of Proficiency are W. F. West High School’s most prestigious recognition for career readiness. To qualify for a certificate of proficiency, students must:
Complete the designated number of CTE courses from the Core Area related to the certificate type.
Complete the designated number of courses from the CTE Options related to the certificate type.
Agriculture Technology
Automotive Technology
Applied Botany and Horticulture
Child and Family Science
Commercial Art
Metals Technology
Welding Technology
Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in CTE Certificate pathway.
Must be enrolled as a full-time student on the W. F. West High School campus.
CTE Certificates of Proficiency recipients receive:
A W. F. West High School CTE Certificate of Proficiency at the June awards ceremony. Certificates of Proficiency are notable additions for resumes and job applications.
An emblem representing the proficiency to wear at graduation.
Special recognition during the commencement ceremony.
