I love teaching Social Studies because it gives me an outlet for my creativity as well as for my life outside of school for volunteering and community service Teaching middle school children is sometimes challenging, but it is very rewarding. Middle school children have vivid imaginations and are open-minded. I love spending my days with them.
In 1997, I began my teaching career in Philadelphia. Two years later, I started my tenure in Cherry Hill Schools at Johnson School as a fifth-grade teacher. I took a little time off in 2006 to be with my kids and returned to teach at Beck Middle School in 2008. I hold a B.A. in History and Political Science and an M.Ed. in Education (K–8).
I often reference my own children in class; my daughter, Hannah, age 22, is a computer science and IT cyber security major, and my son, Benjamin, age 20, is a nursing major. They are the sunshine of my life. Outside of work, I enjoy exercising, listening to live music, dancing, cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family.
