My name is Olyve Havens and I am the Chapel Hill Girls Wrestling captain and I am also a part of the Chapel Hill High School softball team!
What inspired me to pursue 3D modeling is that I was curious on how to create my own characters and create models for video games.
My artistic philosophy is that in the beginning, there are allowed to be mistakes. I've been one that wants to make everything perfect, or near perfect, on the first try. But in art, that just simply is impossible.
My strongest skill would be animation. I've done 2D animation by hand. Doing 3D modeling using animations, I've found to be difficult, but just as enjoyable.
Most projects that I've done have been mainly school related. Using google slides, docs and sheets. Some 2D projects have been done on FlipAClip and I have some coding experience on Python and using Block-Based programming.
One standout project that I have would highlight would be my project on America and on the American STEM when I presented in Fukishima, Japan in 2024.
Whenever I work in team projects, I usually am the one that takes over everything. I input all of my ideas and I add them to whatever the task is given. I usually lead the project. I give ideas, I apply, I add and subtract, and I submit.
How I approach any project is with determination to get the project done and done right. I take extra time for small details, I add extra information, and I add my own personal finesse. I make the project one of a kind and my own. Using color pallets related to whatever the project consists of.
What inspires my work is my desire on said topic. If I'm very interested in the topic being discussed, then the project will reflect such.
My future long-term goals is to get a degree in the STEM field. With most of my family being engineers, it's only right for me to participate in the STEM field. I aspire to be a Chemist or a Health Physiologist. Science and math are very interesting subjects to me. They're both easy and challenging at the same time. Why I want to be a Chemist is because I've always been the child to play around with different chemicals. With Mel Chemistry Lab Kits and shampoo bottles at arms reach, I would make solutions and make labs on the kitchen counter. Why I want to be a Health Physiologist is because a dear friend of mine is. I've shadowed her work, in the lab and in hospitals and I've taken that into consideration when discussing my future life plans.
