Digital Reading Resources

The resources below are websites and apps that have access to digital e-books and reading materials. Please pay special attention to which resources work with which devices (iPads/Chromebooks)

Ebooks for iPads

RAZ Kids app

RAZ Kids - App

The K-1 iPads already have the RAZ kids app installed on them.

You can also go to RAZ kids through the Clever app on your tablet.

Epic! Books - App

The K-1 iPads already have the Epic! Books app installed on them.

Your classroom teacher will give you a code to access the class account.

Unite for Literacy app

Unite Books - App

The K-1 iPads already have the Unite Books app installed on them.


Offers mostly picture books with nonfiction topics. Books can be read aloud in several diverse languages.


Sora App

Scroggs Ebooks Library & Access to the NC Kids Digital Library

This app can access the NCKids Digital Library, which is affiliated with the Chapel Hill Public Library. There are over 30,000 ebooks and audiobooks to digitally "borrow."


Directions to login the first time:

  • Tap the green button that says "Find My School"

  • Find the box that says "Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools," then tap the green box that says "This is my school"

  • Choose the first option under "Select your school"

  • Tap the green button that says "Sign in using Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools"

  • Choose "Continue" in the app confirmation

  • Tap on your Google Account name to sign into the app


Directions for adding the NC Kids Digital Library to your account:

  • In the upper, right hand corner of the app - tap on the button that has 3 lines inside of a circle

  • Tap on the blue button that says "Add library"

  • In the search bar, type: "nc kids" (make sure there is a space between nc and kids)

  • In the NC Kids Digital Library box, tap on the green button that says "This is my library"

  • Pretend like you are going to borrow a book from the main home screen (it can be any book). Tap on the book. Tap on the blue word "Borrow."

  • When asked to sign into your public library, scroll down to "Orange County Public Library"

  • Your card number is your student ID number


Now you are successfully signed into both libraries! :)

Directions to Login:

  1. Go to Clever.com and sign in to your school Google Account

  2. Click on the Sora app in Clever

  3. Click on the green button that says "My school is Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools"

  • If you do not see that option, click on "Not your school?", then at the bottom of the next screen click on "My school isn't listed." Type in 27516 to find our school district.

  1. Under "Sign into your school", click on the first option listed

  2. Click on your school Google Account name
