When I saw that we were making a Lego figure I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I never thought it was going to be as hard as it tuned out to be for me. I struggled a lot with this model. This was the first assignment with modifiers, so naturally I wasn't very good at using them. I kept making small mistakes, like using the wrong modifier, or forgetting a step, or selecting the wrong polygons and vertex's and stuff like that so this project took way longer than it probably should. I had to restart the chest, leg and head witch also took some time. But the reason I'm proud of this model is because despite all of the challenges that I ran into, I never gave up and still came up with (in my opinion) a pretty darn good leg figure.
This was by far, my favorite project I've done so far in this class. I loved being able to chose what to model, and the fact that i got to mule one of my favorite game that I've been playing for years. What inspired me to create this piece is really quite simple. when I was brainstorming things to make I was just thinking about things that I use daily, and Clash-Royal came to mind. The main technique that I used to make this project happen is, I used boxes for almost everything, and I would add an "edit poly" modifier to the box and then use the vertex selection mode and grab a vertex and pull it out to best represent the actually Clash Royal stadium.
While this project was fun to make, I did struggle a lot with this project. I kept running into problems with the "noise" modifier especially. However, I didn't give up, to solve this problem I just played around with the settings of the "noise" and "taper" modifiers until I got to something that I liked. I did like the freedom of this project. The other thing that I'm proud of Is the fact that there was a video explaining only one of the mushrooms, and none of the rocks, but I still managed to come up with some pretty decent rocks and mushrooms.
What im most proud of in this model this that its not just a plain old crystal ball, but instead has layers to it and is visually pleasing. I didn't really have a plan going into this besides just to make a crystal ball, but I quickly figured out a really cool way to give the ball texture. That way was to put spheres inside other spheres and give them different textures to give the crystal ball layers. In order to see the inside spheres, I just made the spheres on the outside mostly transparent. I think it turned out quite nicely.
This model was very fun to make, especially because it was not that complicated to make. Actually it was very simple. Not only was this model fun to make, I also like how it turned out. The one thing that was complicated about it was the fact that every single wood texture that I uploaded and used was stretched, so it took many tries to finally find one that was not. Besides that I greatly enjoyed making this model and it was honestly kind of fun to try and find good textures
This project was challenging for me. This project was either the first project where we had to use materials and the material editor, because this was a new thing to me, this project ended up being pretty challenging. In this project we took 4 items from popular movies and used the material editor to put textures on them to make them more closely resemble the real things. The other thing about this project that I didn't like was that we had to render a lot, and sometimes the render would actually take a little bit whitch made the project take longer than expected. Besides all that, I'm glad I now know how to use the material editor, and it has come very much in handy in my recent projects.
