3D Modeling & Animation Reflections
2025-2026
2025-2026
i chose 3d modeling because i thought it look cool the way they make the games i play.i expect to learn how to 3d model
Module 1 The basics
9/9/25
In module 1 i learned how to create primitives and change the height, size and color. i learned how to build with different primitives. I learned how to use 3ds max and how to create scenes.i created a temple, and pencil and a snowman.
Module 2 managing your scene
9/16/25
in module 2 i learned how to manage my scene . i made a cat and i made a four corners scene and it was fun
Module 3 modeling
10/9/25
In module 3 i learned how to use modifiers like edit poly, mesh smooth and more different stuff like that. The first was a Lego minifigure i had messed up on the leg a little but it all turned out fine. second i made a screwdriver which was sorta difficult but i was able to make it work. Third i made a chess pawn which was easier the instructions were straight forward. Fourth was the field scene which was kind of difficult but i was again able to make it work . Fifth was toy submarine which was easy because of the instruction the one bad thing was sometime i made things off centered. Sixth was the easiest which was the space ship and it was easy because the video was simple and it turned out looking really good. Then the seventh and final one which is video game props i made majora's mask and Link's shield from the legend of Zelda which was what i was really proud about and thought looked really good i made it using the loft and pro Boolean mechanics.
Module 4 lights camera action
10/16/25
In module 4 i learned how to make camera and lights and the correct way to use them. I was struggling at the beginning but i got better and learned how to do it better. First project i did was a citizen cane scene that wasn't as good as the other ones. The second project was three point lighting, And i think that was the best one i did. And the last project was a table lamp which was in the middle of hard and easy because the lighting was a bit difficult but i used my knowledge and push through.
module 5 rendering
10/28/25
In module 5 not much happened. we expanded on rendering and how to make the renders look better. it was the easiest i have done so far . i had to render a still life with every thing had a different materials. which is also something i learned how to do this module and that wasn't hard at all. i made render presets which helps with rendering faster. so yeah thats every thing i did in module 5.
Quarter 1
10/30/25
this quarter i learned the basics of 3ds max and a lot more. in module one i learned the basics on how to use it and how to create things. Module 2 i learned how to do a lot more like make exact measurements and make different things with basic primitives . Module three was a lot i made Lego mini figures, a screwdriver, submarine. majora's mask. a spaceship and a shield. module four was short it was just lighting and cameras i made one thing which was a table lamp. Module 5 and the last module of the quarter and we just light up a still life. A struggle i ran into was figuring out how to make the shape for the mask and to solve it i tried everything i knew and found how to do it. i have used what learned to make different items better. a new technique i learned how to loft which is a lifesaver to make different items when you are stuck.
Module 6 materials and UVW's
11/10/25
In this module i learned how to add textures. the first project was applying indana jones textures to a Lego minifigure and un wrapping the uvw . in the tank project which was the easiest part where i had to create a tank using a box and then adding textures. the textures i added was a camouflage texture i made using marble and wood textures. this module will help me in the long run with the other projects and the pbm. That was everything i learned in module 6
Module 7 It's alive
12/1/25
In this module i learned how to rig characters. we used a monster named frankinstone and a mad scientist. This module was the hardest module well at least the first part was because it was a bunch of stuff we didn't even have to do we used a skeleton instead . we had to pose them in different positions like them running and all that other stuff. anyways it was kind boring to do.
Module 8 The big premiere
1/15/26
This module was by far the hardest and i didnt even finish it on time. In this module we learned how to create an animation and because of that, i feel bad for the animators because its a nightmare. This made me want to cry like 5 times. i was able to finish it 5 weeks after but at least its done. Now i have to animate in the pbm and hopefully its easier than last time.
Quarter 2
1/14/26
This last part of the class was alright. It was by far the hardest part of this class. The new skills I learned were how to apply textures , rigg models, and animate them. those were all difficult some more than others but its a good skill if i every decide to do this again. my understanding has improved good and i feel bad for all the game animators because the animation must make them want to die because of how long it takes. The rigging is alright unless you mess it up then having to redo it is a nightmare. The strategies i found most useful with learning was that if it gets hard do something else and try again later.
