What is the title and concept of your original game? (Identify which prompt you used)
The title of my concept is named "Echoes In The Forgotten Temple" where a drone with a camera carries a relic(Gemstone) into the forgotten temple where the is torches that goes on and off on itself, making the theme dark and somewhat light orange as the torches goes on and off, and there is a pedestal that would trigger the door behind it when the relic is placed, after triggering behind the door is a ancient mummy who had been asleep long ago, and because of the activation of the ancient door, the mummy had awoken from it's sleep and destroys the drone.
Which of these items will require detailed modeling or special attention?
One of the items that will require detailing is the Mummy where the Mummy bandages will have some dust onto it and the eyes of the Mummy will glow in the dark theme, and then the drone will have a detailed camera onto it, another one is the gemstone(relic) where it will be shiny and bright.
Which objects or characters (if any) will need to be rigged for movement?
The Mummy will be rigged for movement due to it will have movement whenever the doors open and slams the drone into the ground, and the drone will be rigged for carrying the game stone(relic)
How does the design of your character reflect their personality or role in the story?
The design of the character which is the Mummy reflects that he had been put into sleep for many decades as the temple is shown to be ancient and old/forgotten and the Mummy itself will have many dust and rustiness on it, and the action of it destroying the drone shows the anger of the Mummy after getting woken up after a long sleep.
Environment and Layout
What does the layout of your scene look like? Where are the key objects placed?
The environment in the forgotten temple would be many pillars and torches where some pillars if not all are destroyed and broken into pieces that are scattered around the temple, and that some torches would go on and off on itself showing the horror part of the temple, and including some cracks on the floor making it also dangerous to go over.
Where will your camera(s) be placed, and why?
The camera will be placed in multiple areas including a corner where it can see the entrance as it can captured the view of the drone flying into the temple, and then the camera will began to follow the drone as a walkthrough, and then it will mainly focus on the drone placing the gemstone as a close-up and then a close-up only on the pedestal where it goes down after placement, and then another close-up to the door opening, and then goes behind the drone as it enters, and then turn back to look at the pillars falling down and then on a side view of the drone and the Mummy, and how the Mummy wakes up and destroys the drone, these views shows the perspective of the drone and the important sciences such as the pedestal getting placed and the door opening and the pillars falling, adding the theme of the temple.
How does your layout support the flow of the cutscene?
This layout can help support the cutscenes by following the drone as it moves, showing the area's such as the pillars, especially when it captures the torches going on and off, making it's theme and the forgotten of the place due to the broken pillars, and the fall of all pillars at the end adds into the flow of the setting being very old and can be fragile.
Pedestal
Drone
Mummy
Pillars
Torches
Gemstone
One of the biggest challenge I faced when modeling this character is the arms as it is kind of annoying for me to model the arms due to different shapes in 3 different areas and I couldn't get it too circular, so instead I just made them the muscles instead with some bigger sides on the top. What I'm most proud of in this model was the chest as it goes just how I wanted it to be for a chest to be shaped and looked like and it wasn't so difficult too. And this character will be animated and be used as a important role in this animation, as it will be the one who is going to be woken up by the drone.
Gemstone
Pedestal
Drone
For the assets I wanted to create my own was the pedestal, Gemstone, and the drone as these models makes me most interested for modeling such as for the drone, I've never model it before and I wanted to try it out for the first time and same as for the pedestal, and gemstone was just a extra that goes with the pedestal. And as for the ones i found online was the wall that contain the door with it, and the torch, and the pillars, due to pillars and door having to be what I've done before, I didn't really wanted to do them, and as for the torch, it would take massive amount of time to do it.
One of the tools I've used the most for the asset was Edit poly and Material editor as it allowed me to make different shapes on each model and makes the process way faster, second was the material editor, allowing me to add textures onto my models and the model I've found online. And one of the models I've made I'm most proud of the drone as it in general didn't look so bad, and It was the one I most enjoyed when modeling.
Creating a asset list helps me to remember what stuff I'll be needing and what I wanted to model, then it also would let me see how far my progress is on the modeling, keeping me knowing how I'm doing currently, and I did make some changes as for the asset lists as I figured I couldn't model all of the stuff listed so I made it into half which is more doable for me.
One thing I wish to improve with my workflow is make things quicker and make it less time consuming as it took up very long time making some stuff during these assets and it was very unnecessary, and what I'm more excited about is my animations as it will be fun to animate the scene and characters I have with me.
I used both free spotlight and Omni lights as both can go together, and spotlights are mainly used for focusing on important objects and characters such as the Mummy and the pedestal, and the other spotlights would create the mood and theme of the scene in the background, making it a bit dark and fits as it's a ruin temple, and the Omni lights are for the Torches to light up during these dark themes, allowing it to be obvious due to the dark lights.
So major problems that I've faced making the lights and balancing them are how I need to make the lights which specifically lights on the mummy or pedestal lighter while others need to be darker to contrast the theme and how I have to pick specific color for the torches and make them not as bright to cover up the whole room, and making it all red.
In this artifact, I've animated the drone, and the mummy with other small parts such as the door, I've chosen those to be animated as they are primary the main characters in this animation, and they would be shown mostly through the animation, and smaller parts such as the door was also animated due to being part of the scene that requires for it to open up after the gemstone is placed, and therefore the drone can go through the door, and as for the mummy his main animation is just to move his body to scare the drone for it to leave, and the drone just plays the main part of the animation where he will being flying back and forth in this scene.
What I'm most proud of in this animation is the propellors as I've had trouble making them work as I've wanted them to be in the beginning as it wouldn't spin seamlessly and it wouldn't stick with the drone, but afterwards I've figured I could had used the curve editors animation tool to make it loop where I've wanted them to be, creating the drone's propellor to keep on spinning throughout the animation.
