Ephesus Elementary School Counseling Program Vision Statement:
Ephesus Elementary School is a diverse community of life-long changemakers partnering to cultivate critical consciousness, problem-solving skills, and empathy. All Ephesus students are empowered to access their desired post-secondary choice as they grow into resilient, reflective, and joyful adults equipped to dismantle inequities and positively impact their community.
Our vision for students is based on the following school community beliefs:
All students can learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally. All students have strengths that can benefit others.
All students have the right to come to school and feel safe, welcomed, and supported.
We must work to actively engage children, families, and community members, and fully develop them as partners in the educational experience.
Race must not be a predictor of success. Our school district currently has the second-highest racial academic achievement gap in the country, and bold work must continue to close this gap.
Curriculum and instructional techniques must be differentiated to meet the needs of all students.
All students must be empowered with the tools to graduate high school with a variety of post-secondary options.
Human beings are fundamentally happier and more successful when the principles of fair practice are observed and individuals in positions of authority do things with them rather than to them or for them.
All students have the right to participate in a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate school counseling program delivered by a licensed school counselor.
School Counseling Program Mission Statement:
The mission of the Ephesus Elementary counseling department is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that facilitates the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students in a safe and joyful community. The counseling department is committed to partnering with school, family, and community stakeholders to dismantle barriers and provide culturally responsive evidence-based practices for all student subgroups that facilitate relationships, empower skills for lifelong learning, and eliminate outcome and opportunity gaps.
