3D Modeling & Animation
2025-2026
2025-2026
So for my PBM project, I am going to make a prize machine using capsules and inside the capsules are going to be mini versions of what I have made throughout this year and they are going to be the prizes inside of the machine. I am going to make custom capsules for each one of them. It is going to be in a forest with candy canes, nearby lighting the scene will be a lamp post. In the animation that I will be making the camera will zoom into the machine and the machine mysteriously activates by itself, turning the handle and releasing a capsule. You can see the examples of what I will be modeling below. Now of course I won’t be modeling the exact ones in the pictures. I will be adding custom textures to make them look new and unique. For example the heart of the sea capsule will look like seawater more likely at night with deep blues and aqua colors to give it that sea look. The machine itself will have different designs on it and colors to represent the different prizes that lie within such as there might be emerald green to represent the Maltese falcon, red and blue to represent the sword and shield, these will look like fire and ice they will be on opposite ends of the bottom of the machine. And for the environment, I was thinking of candy cans, maybe some snow aka white planes on the ground, the candy canes could be trees and the prize machine could just be one of many in this sort of candy cane, prize machine forest. The main character could be a snowman and it could be exploring this forest looking for a Christmas present that it’s going to give one of the reindeer and Santa. The story could be when the snowman is looking around this candy cane Forest. It’s checking all of the parts machines, but none of them are on until when suddenly one of them turns on and as the snowman moves closer to it the dial on it starts to turn on its own and then a capsule comes out and then as it does the snowman starts to move closer thinking that this could be the perfect gift. But just before we see what’s inside of the capsule, the animation cuts off and a bright light from the capsule restarts it
Four lamp posts on each side of the path
The path which will probably have a dirt texture material on it or a snow texture material
Eight lights to go inside of the lamp posts which will be Omni lights
The capsules that will go inside of the price machine
The prize machine itself, which will probably be a box or multiple boxes and then I would use the pro-Boolean to make a hole in the face of the box, make another box that will go inside of that hole, apply a glass texture to it to see inside of the prize machine
The candy cans that would be spread out like trees in a forest
The snowman hat, which would be a not a top hat like in the drawings, but a beanie
The camera that will follow behind the snowman by using a path constraint.
Artifact one main character. 2026/1/14
What I did for my first artifact my main character was make a snowman, but a unique one with a scarf, a beanie, a little pom-pom on that beanie, mittens, and boots. What I did for my materials was use plastic for the boots,Cotton for the beanie, Scarf and the mittens. As you can see from my pictures below, for the arms which are a little street I will fix that later when I start animating, I used a tree bark texture. For the pebbles and Coal I just renamed them I haven’t put any textures on them. On the snowballs I put a Styrofoam texture material to make it look like snow. The concept for my main character was a basic snowman with a hat, some arms, legs, and pebbles in the chest. It fit my chosen prompt because I was going for a Christmas theme. So I thought that the main character was at first maybe an elf. Then my mind went to Frosty the Snowman because I had just seen the movie at the time. and I think we can see where that went. Some challenges I faced when putting the textures on were making sure they were put on correctly, making sure the items were properly sized to the character and making it look like it was real. The materials align properly with my model because they look like they belong on the snowman and I made everything matching except for the scarf, coal, and pebbles. The part I’m most proud of my finished model is all of it because I worked really hard on it and it looks like I actually put work into it. Not like my skills were at the beginning of the year.
Artifact 3 lighting
What I did for my third artifact was make a lighting scene for my animation using different types of lights, mostly Omni. I used Omni lights because they would fit the scene best and they would act as the lights for the lamp posts in the scene. Some of the challenges I faced while doing this were trying to figure out the temperature and what type of coloring of the lights I should do because I wanted to make a mysterious mood or kind of a nighttime mood and tone. The next artifact I will be working on will be the Animation one. Where I will make a full animation that loops back to the beginning of the animation.
