3D Modeling & Animation

Year-Year
Reflection - I took 3D modeling and animation because I thought it would be cool to learn how to bring ideas and characters to life on a screen. I've always liked being creative, and this class gives me the chance to actually build things i imagine.I wanted to see how games, movies, and animations are made and maybe try it out for myself. What i hope to get out of it is learning some skills that i can use later on,whether for fun or even for a future career.i also want to get better at being patient and paying attention to detail, since this kind of work takes a lot of focus. Most of all,I just want to finish the class with something i made that I can look at and be proud of.
I choose this piece because i struggled many of times to make it and took me several class periods to finish it. This probably taught me the most with 3ds max because it helped me learn and understand different ways to use edit poly and i used edit poly for multiple projects. Even though i didn't know much about edit poly i kept trying to watch the videos and understand how to do i and it took me a lot of time to finally realize how to use edit poly in the right ways at different times. What i really struggled on was bridge the foot and the cylinder part to make the leg because i didn't know that i had to line it up the right way for it to be able to bridge nicely. There so many different technique you need to use for edit poly and really know how to choose which tool you should use in what situation. After practicing and practicing i learned how to use edit poly like beveling or extrude to pull things out or in and chamber tool taught me how to make your corners and edges look more realistic so its not sharp corners and round instead. In all this module helped me with many of things using edit poly with my assignments in the future.
Why i choose this project was because i really like how my screwdriver came out. The loft tool and learning it was really fun and different from the other tools we usually use like making a line or a shape and being able to turn it into a screw driver was very exciting to see for me never working with it before. Another thing i really like about this project is how different mines is from everyone's else when i saw people with there screwdriver it was way bigger and longer then mine and i like that mines isn't like everyone else and is different. From this i got taught you can build real life things in so many ways just by starting with lines and shapes and turning it into a real module. I just wanted to put this up here because how the loft tool works is really cool to me and interesting to learn.
I was really excited to make this and inspired me to make this also knowing it would challenge me and have to learn different ways to make this from scratch. This project was so nice because you had so much freedom on how you wanted to make it and you just looking at a imagine in a real world thing and making it into a module while begin able to choose anything you want to give u a hard time to learn. I am really proud of this looking from where i started and now being able to make this just from a imagine using everything i learned and use it on one object. I got challenged a lot while making this because it was letters and i didn't know how to make hem look real but i had to extrude them and put them inside the coffee maker to look more realistic. One thing i didn't do is make the water tube transparent because we didn't learn that at the time and if i know how to do it i would fix it and make it more transparent for a more realistic look to it. In all I liked how I learned so much from being in this class and getting to see it all in one module using everything i learned.
Asset Example - Replace this text box with an image, image carousel, or properly embedded animation.
this crystal ball was inspired by my interest in creating magical and realistic looking objects in 3ds max, and i wanted to challenge myself to make something that felt both shiny and real. I used the material editor to create a transparent, glass like material by adjusting the transparency and the lighting so the crystal ball looked like real glass then some plastic. One of the biggest challenges was getting the transparency and reflections to look right without making the object like fake, but i was able to fix this by just changing some of the settings in the material editor using the experience i have built during the past months. This Crystal represents me because it shows my artistic style because i like creating objects that feel detailed and i am most proud of how the crystal looks with the lighting on it
This piece was created to show my first experience with rigging and making a character move in a realistic way inside 3ds max. I built a bone system for the stone monster and connected it to the model so i could animate it, then posed Dr.frankstone standing on top of his arm to create a funny looking imagine.one of the hardest part of this was getting the rig to move correctly without breaking the model, but i overcame this by carefully adjusting the bones and weight painting . This control and realism, and i am most proud that i was able to make a complex character move in a believable way for the first time.
The animation was making a scene of a dramatic story using movement, where Dr.Frankstone is walking and and sees a stone monster and then is getting chased. I used auto key and set keys to animate his running and movements, and this was my first time fully creating and animation from start to finish. A major challenge was making the motion look smooth and realistic instead of stiff, but by carefully adjusting the timing and key frames i was able to make the running feel more natural. I also made the camera follow Dr.frankestone, which helped make the scene more intense and cinematic, and this project shows how i am starting to understand how animation brings characters to life.
