Beatrice Ayers

Beatrice is a freshman at Seaforth High school in NC. Beatrice believes that in every successful person is someone who has failed. Beatrice played Field hockey for most of her life. She has played for CASFH, the Carolina All Star Field Hockey team. She has blocked most of the shots taken on her goalie. Beatrice was given the “Most blocks” award by her Mother,the coach. Beatrice looks forward to training more in field hockey. And wishes of playing for the UNC field hockey team.

Dorothea Ayers

Dorothea is a Senior at Seaforth High School in Pittsboro, NC who is a member of HOSA and PRIDE club and wants to do her best to make Seaforth a better place. Dorothea was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 2006 and lived there until she was three. In 2009, at three years old, Dorothea and her family moved to NC, where they have lived ever since. Dorothea is a member of NSHSS and NC HOSA, having made it to the state-level competition her first year. Over the summer of 2023, Dorothea attended a medical internship at Georgetown University, where she learned how to intubate and draw blood during skills day. She is inspired by writer Rick Riordan, activists Greta Thunberg and Malala Yousfanazi, and historical figures such as Queen Liliuokalani of Hawaii and Rani Laxsmibai of Jhansi.

Abigail Barni

Abigail Barni is a junior attending Seaforth High School. She was born in New York, and moved to Chapel Hill, NC with her family at an early age. Growing up, she developed a love for tennis which led her to leave her family and home to train full-time in Florida. She attended the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton. Living away from home and following a rigorous and physically demanding schedule was a challenge that taught Abbi many new life skills and lessons. In her time there, she trained one-on-one with Chris Evert, an 18-time grand slam champion, who taught her many things about the sport. She also participated in many tennis events, including Game, Set, Cure, a tournament which raises funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She was selected as a captain in 2023 and assisted in raising over $75,000 for the fight against childhood cancer. She has chosen to spend this year at home with her family, and she is looking forward to meeting new people and continuing to enjoy new experiences!

Cami Brinkley

Cami Brinkley is a sophomore attending Seaforth High School. Her main goals are to play college softball, major in English, and become a professional writer. She also hopes to open a small business selling handmade jewelry in the near future. During her freetime she loves art and reading, which is why she wants to become an author someday. Something that Cami believes sets her apart from others is that she is a perfectionist and always tries her hardest to make sure everything she does lives up to her standards.

Kendall Collier

Kendall Collier is a senior at Seaforth High School. She has lived in North Carolina her whole life but moved to Chapel Hill only five years ago. It wasn't until seventh grade that Kendall started really enjoying reading. The book that started her fascination with reading was The Hunger Games. The next year Kendall started a book club at her middle school and became interested in writing stories of her own. Kendall received the English II Student of the Year award in her Sophomore year of high school due to her hard work in reading and writing. Kendall wants to continue improving her writing skills so that she can one day publish her work somewhere.

Atziri Cortes Perez

Atziri Cortes Perez is a student at Seaforth High School. She is in her junior year and has a 3.9 weighted GPA. She was born In Auburn, California then shortly moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Growing up Atziri strongly believed in social justice and had always been interested in politics. Atziri has become the main representative of a program called OLP, which stands for Orgullo Latinx Pride. This program is based on social justice, college prep and community service. Atziri is interested in studying law and getting into a 4 year university, preferably Columbia University in NYC.

Marisol Fajardo

Marisol Fajardo is a junior at Seaforth High School. She loves to draw, paint and design. She has been painting and drawing for 10 years so far and she plans to attend a college of the arts and get a masters degree in a few different categories. Marisol has sold multiple paintings and other art works online and would love to have her own company for designing. Marisol also loves animals and hopes to one day become an animal rescue. She also loves to help kids and other teenagers with any problems they might be facing whther that be comfort or educational. She is also a hopeless romantic who loves to write and read romantic books.

Samiah Harrington

Samiah Harrington (she/her) is a student at Seaforth High School. She completed elementary and middle school all at Moncure School.  She learned the typical things she should know for when she got to high school such as: Ela, Math, Science, and Social Studies. She was born in North Carolina, Fayetteville. She soon got into writing as her sister inspired her, and so did other writers such as: Grrm, Stephen King, and etc and she grew up reading a lot, and soon wanting to write her own stories as well. She craves to write: Fantasy, Historical fiction, Action,  Drama, and Tragedy.

Sasha Helmer

My name is Sasha. I’m a student at Seaforth High School. I was born in Chapel Hill NC. What I like to do when I am not in school is to go running and I really enjoy it. I help my brother with golf like I caddie him for practice. I hang out with my brother when he is chipping and putting. Sometimes I would go for a bike ride around the neighborhood. I like to write in my journal during the afternoon and listen to music. While I am in school I am a hardworking student and I try my best in all my classes and do well on my tests. I do enjoy hanging out with my friends at lunch.

Angel Hernandez Montalvo

Angel Montalvo is a senior student at Seaforth High School and is an aspiring artist with an interest in architecture. Angel was born in Puerto Rico and moved to the US after a couple of years. He wants to be able to one day create art and stories that inspire people the same way he got inspired to take up art. Reading the wonderful work of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison, and the awe inspiring Blame! By Tsutomu Nihei, Angel hopes to also one day be able to transport people to otherworldly yet strangely familiar places. Angel is currently attempting to get into college with the intention of getting a degree in the arts and potentially architecture.

Ava Hertel

Ava Hertel is a student by Seaforth High School. She was born in St.Louis Missouri and later moved to North Carolina where she has been for nine and a half years. Ava loves the environment and wants to be an environmental lawyer who works to help protect tribal nations protect tribal land when she grows up. She is also very passionate about making sure that all voices are heard, making sure that no person or group of people are left out. In middle school she was part of her school newspaper and published a few articles. In the future she wants to continue to work with writing.

Kevin Jones

Kevin Jones (He/Him) is in his Junior year at Seaforth High School. He has a passion for literature and performing. If he hasn't got his head buried in a fantasy novel, he's thinking of ways to write his own. He's dedicated to becoming a psychologist when he graduates high school and is even hoping to one day be an author.

Annika Lindgren

Annika Lindgren is a Sophomore at Seaforth high school. She is an aspiring author born and raised in Pittsboro NC. In her free time Annika likes to read, rock climb, and paint. One of her main inspirations in John Claude Bemis, published author with Random House and writing mentor of 5 years. Annika has been passionate about writing for her entire school career, and has participated in many writing classes and workshops over the years.

Elliana Mansour

Elli Mansour is a freshman at Seaforth High School, She likes to help the community by volunteering her time and helping out other people in need. She also enjoys to bake and to go outside in her free time and also loves animals, including her new puppy. She was born and raised in Moncure, NC, but hopes to go to a big city such as new york when she's older, or for college. Elli hopes to go to a four year university but still isn't sure what for, but is excited for the experience and getting to learn new things.

Henry McFall

Henry McFall is a junior at Seaforth High School. Henry is part of the school's cross country and tennis teams, and enjoys building a fictional world in his limited free time. He hopes that all the work he did in the summer will help him stay #3 on the cross country team and become #3 on the tennis team. He finds inspiration from fictional authors such as Brandon Sanderson and J.R.R Tolkien.

Lora Morgan

Lora Morgan is a sophomore at Seaforth High School. She was born in West Virginia and moved to North Carolina at the age of 11. She has played soccer since she was four and plays Varsity for Seaforth. She is passionate about the arts and is beginning to write her own songs, hoping to record her own music soon. She hopes to attend Appalachian State University and eventually pursue a career in chiropractic.  

Gabriela Nazario

Gabriela Nazario is a Sophomore at Seaforth High School and also holds the position of Sophomore Secretary. She was born in Raleigh and then moved to Chapel Hill when she was 11. She is passionate about dancing and singing, as she has done chorus since the 3rd grade. She prefers to write short stories than writing a whole book, and when she grows up, she would like to be a psychologist or a dance teacher. 

Maggie Odipo

Maggie is a sophomore at Seaforth High School in North Carolina. She was born in Chapel Hill and moved to Pittsboro three years ago after living in Durham since she was very little. Maggie likes to read and listen to many genres of music, listening for hours each day. She finds an interest in many types of design, including fashion, architecture, and interior design, and is thinking about pursuing a career in one of them. Whenever she has breaks, she likes to travel with her family, visit family in another country or state, try new recipes, watch a bunch of shows, and hang out with her friends.

Gavin Popp

Gavin Popp is a freshman at Seaforth High School. He was born in Illinois but moved to North Carolina at a young age. Gavin’s hobbies include baseball, golf, track and field, and photography. His dream job would be a career in photography or filmmaking but is also interested in computer science. He wants to attend college for at least four years to possibly pursue a job in programming or graphic design. He also enjoys writing, mostly film scripts and occasional short stories. He is inspired by authors like Earnest Cline and William Golding, filmmakers like Christopher Nolan, Michael Mann, and Ridley Scott, as well as photographers such as Gordon Parks, James Popsys, and Saul Leiter.

Josie Quick

Josie Quick (she/her) is a junior attending Seaforth High School. She was born and raised in North Carolina and is a proud daughter of two local musicians and works with the Duke Lemur Center in Durham, North Carolina to continue exploring her love for the natural world. Josie developed a passion for writing at a young age and acted on it, taking her favorite characters from games and shows and making stories for them to act out on the page. She has been regularly posting her works for several years under a pen name on a handful of social media sites. She hopes to continue writing and come up with something brilliant so she can publish a book that could inspire other young writers to chase their dreams.

Scarlett Smith

Scarlett Smith is a student at Seaforth High School. She graduated middle school at Margaret B. Pollard in 2022. She was born in Cary, North Carolina, but lives in Apex. She has lived all her life in NC. She is a member of the Key Club as well as the Creative Writing Club. During the summer she usually visits her family in Canada which is where her parents are from. She loves to read, and write, and her favorite authors are Ray Bradbury, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Emily Henry, and Donna Tartt.

Anavi Smith

Anavi is a junior at Seaforth high school and is interested in child psychology to make the foster care system better and better advocate for kids who can’t advocate for themselves. She was born in Rolesville, North Carolina and moved to Ragleigh, Cary and Chapel Hill years later. As Anavi became older she wanted to help those who may need it and those who had hard times with family and foster care. She like to play volleyball, run track, make things, do photography, and play with her dogs Kingston and Jewels. She has made some bracelets for friends and family and took some pictures for her brothers sports and family events. She is inspired by Shakari Richardson and others around her. 

Stella Stearns

My name Is Stella Stearns, respectively meaning Star and Strict/Severe. I feel like this is a name that I fit, at least the strict part. I am very strict with myself, and often strive for the best grades or nothing. I hold my skill for work and tasks highly as I think they are very important in school and in society. But this is not all of me, as I try my hardest to be a good person, someone to trust and feel safe with. I adore baking, reading, and sometimes writing, though I mainly write poetry or short stories. I love helping people, I think an A someone you helped received is on par with earning your own. I am often in my own head creating extensive and intricate stories but with no way to put them on paper, as my mind is too fast for my hands. This is something I struggle with as I can't stay on one story long as I've already started another.  

Lori Strickland

Lori Strickland is a senior at Seaforth High School. She was born in Asheboro, North Carolina, and moved here in 2017. Lori won the sci-fi school writing competition in 7th grade. She likes to explore the woods. She is also very interested in history and science. During her free time, she practices lacrosse or other niche hobbies. She always has stories to tell and likes to draw.

Truman Thomas

Truman Thomas is a freshman that attends Seaforth High School. He was born in Michigan but moved to Georgia in 2010, Ohio in 2013 and has been living in Cary, North Carolina since 2018. He is an aspiring writer and artist taking classes in creative writing, and beginning visual arts to hopefully improve their skills. He takes inspiration from Brandon Sanderson, Abbie Emmons, Kiri Case, and many online artists and hobbyist writers.

Zachary VanHandel

Zachary Van Handel is a senior who attends Seaforth High School. Zach believes that he wants to make a change in the world, and wants to improve life for as many people as possible. Zach was born in Mooresville, North Carolina, but moved to Florida when he was a few months old. He lived there until he was around two years old when he moved back to North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he has lived ever since. Zachary likes to write stories and will publish them online. He also likes to put things together, like figures and legos. His goal is to attend NC State and either graduate from there or transfer to another college. His end goal is the same, though: get a doctorate.

Kai Walker

Kai Walker is a sophomore at Seaforth High School. She was adopted at the age of two from Dongguan, China and has lived in Chapel Hill, NC ever since. She has loved art from a young age and uses it as a way to express herself. For the past several years she’s assisted in a youth art program as a way to inspire the love of art in others. She is a visual artist who sculpts and works with different mediums such as colored pencils, oil pastels, and various types of paints. Her accolades include 2022-2023 Seaforth High School Visual Artist of the Year. She enjoys traveling to view art around the world and is looking forward to attending Savannah College of Art and Design after graduation.

Victoria Wesley

Victoria Wesley is a freshman that attends Seaforth High School. She was born in Fort Myers, Florida. When Victoria was 3 years old her and her family moved to Sanford North Carolina. Growing up she enjoyed playing outside and soon to figure out that she loved reading, drawing, and writing.  The first actual book she read was a Junie B. Jones book called “Tattletale May”. As she got older she read more books by Junie B. Jones and soon figured out her passion for Junie B. Jones. She is inspired by those books and wants to create those kind of books so children like her can learn lessons or how to solve problems.

Vanessa Wilson

Vanessa Wilson is a Junior at Seaforth High School. She was born and raised in NC and has lived in the same house since she was two years old. She has had pet dogs her whole life. She currently has two French Bulldogs, named Pierre and Bijou, and an African Fire Skink, named Ignis (or Iggy for short). She was first put on a horse when she was two years old at her grandmother's house. She continued to ride growing up, and when she was 9 years old, she started learning mounted archery. She started competing when she was 13. She has placed in the top three in at least one of the three courses at every competition she’s been in. She even got third place in her entire division internationally. She hopes to write Fantasy and Horror stories/novels but also wants to work with reptiles and other exotic animals.
