Your grades determine your GPA which will impact your eligibility for sports and activities, college admissions, and scholarships. You also have to pass prerequisite courses to move on to higher-level courses, as you build on concepts, skills and vocabulary taught in introductory classes. Another thing to keep in mind is if you do not pass your classes, you will not be able to get your driver's permit.
You earn one credit for every course you pass. This is important as you build up to the number of credits you need to graduate, especially required core classes (in English, Math, Social Studies, and Science). Failing classes can affect whether you graduate on time. If you do not earn at least 6 credits your freshmen year, you will not be promoted to 10th grade.
Missing just one day of class means double the workload. When you return to class you have to makeup the work you missed and learn the new mateiral for the day -- not only that, but missing one day of school means you miss four classes. That means you have eight classes of work to catch up on and complete in one day. Attendance also impacts whether or not you can play sports and attend school activities.
You will use your Chromebook to access class assignments, take tests, check email, check your grades, communicate with teachers, and access important announcements. It is important to check Infinite Campus and Google Classrooms every day. This also means you need to take care of your Chromebook.
