Commission and World Premiere

The Great Rubber Chicken Galop was commissioned by the Margaret B. Pollard Band to celebrate the creativity and humor that our students have brought to the band room since 2018. The lore surrounding “Nugget,” the chicken that supposedly took up residence in our storage closet and even ran for student body president, has evolved over time, but our unofficial band mascot remains a chicken. Randall Standridge graciously composed this Vaudeville-themed galop featuring rubber chickens—a beloved staple in the Margaret B. Pollard band room—to serve as a joyful reminder of the memories we've created together and the enduring legacy of our band students, both past and present.
