Try to keep things in perspective. What problems right now will still matter in five or fifteen years? Think about people who've suffered through wars and gone on to live meaningful lives. It doesn't always feel like it, but whatever you are going through is temporary.
It's also OKAY not to be okay. Allow yourself to grieve losses, worry about unpredictabilities, and feel through your sadness. Talking about your experience and reaching out to others can help us feel less alone.
If feelings of anxiety or hopelessness are overwhelming, it is important to talk to an adult who can help teach resilience and coping skills. Crisis counselors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the Hope4NC Helpline (855-587-3463)
