Something I built that I am really proud of is a mechanical hand for my Automation and Robotics class in 7th grade. My teacher chose me and a group of other people to build this for our project. He gave us a problem and what our client wanted. We needed an automated robotic arm that would sense something in front of it, pick it up, turn 180 degrees and drop it without breaking it. We first came up with ideas of how the motors and sensors would work, then the claw of it, and finally the whole arm together. We had problems with trying to find an idea we all agreed on and how it would work together. When we finally agreed on an idea and started building it we realized our plans weren’t detailed enough so we started over. We used more specific plans to try as design it and we went over how the code should work. We then started building it but their was a problem with the type of wire we used to connect the motor and the brain box. When we turned it on it started spinning wildly and almost hit a computer. When we fixed the wire again and reviewed the code and any structural problems we tried it again and it still didn’t work. By this time we were out of time and had to present our problem to the class, we explained our thought process, building, and problems. I am still proud of what we build even if it didn't work.
In my family I have a brother named Jay and my two parents. We also have a cat name Kiki. I learn best through doing the thing I'm trying to learn. The things that motivates me is two things: building machines that will make human life easier and profiting off those machines. I signed up for engineering because the reason I'm going to Latin is because of its engineering program and the fab academy. I want to build amazing things and create new inventions that will benefit peoples daily life. I am most exited about 3D printing using the resin printers because I've never used a resin printer before. The things I like to do in my free time are soccer, basketball, fishing, reading, and Building stuff.
