GETTING IN RIGHT FOR EVERY CHILD

What is wellbeing?

Wellbeing sits at the heart of the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) approach and reflects the need to tailor the support and help that children, young people and their parents are offered to support their wellbeing.

A child or young person’s wellbeing is influenced by everything around them and the different experiences and needs they have at different times in their live

To help make sure everyone – children, young people, parents, and the services that support them – has a common understanding of what wellbeing means, we describe it in terms of eight indicators.

All Highland schools follow the Highland Practice model which supports the policy, practice and strategy around GIRFEC. If you feel that your child would benefit from additional support in any area of their wellbeing, please make contact with the Class Teacher / Early Years Practitioner who can support you with this.

Our Additional Support Needs Teacher (Mrs Lamont) works in the cluster on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition, we have a team of Pupil Support Assistants who work across the schools to support indivduals or groups of learners who are identified as having an additional need.

The full Highland Practice Model policy can be found on the link below.

There are a number of information sheets to help explain specific aspects of support for learning in Highland. These can be found on the CHIP section of the council website.
