SLO for World Language Teachers

SLO Information for 2021-2022

> We will continue to use the SIMPLIFIED SLO Template. (blank)

> HERE is an example of a World Language SLO using the simplified template with proficiency-based data.

  • Choose ONE language mode to measure:

> Presentational Writing

> Presentational Speaking

> Interpretive Listening

> Interpretive Reading

Teachers can use an assessed proficiency level of a language mode at the start of the course and measure against one in the same mode at the end of the course. I would suggest your goal is that students move UP one proficiency level from where they started your course. Suggested proficiency levels for each mode of each level can be found HERE.

You may choose to use a pre-test / post-test format to measure student growth on the selected language mode. Give the same assessment before the beginning of a unit and then again at the end of the unit to measure growth. Reassure students that they should NOT be able to do well on a pre-test and that this is OK!
