Success Plan

What to Do If You’re Absent

1. Check the calendar to keep up with your assignments so you can return to school prepared.

2. Ask a friend for any notes you missed.

3. Follow the procedures on the Make-up Work page to make up any missed work.

Class Rules

1. Do not talk when others are talking.

2. Do not chew.

3. Clean up your area.

4. Come prepared.

5. No spiral notebooks are allowed.

6. Be on time.

Classroom Management and Discipline Policy

The classroom discipline plan is the same as that used by all Moultrie teachers.

What You Need for Class

1. Two pens and two pencils (sharpened before class)

2. A DOL (Daily Oral Language) notebook

3. Vocabulary Workshop book

4. Looseleaf paper

5. Chromebook

Participation

1. Every student receives a grade for participation.

2. Participation points can be earned by asking a good question, providing a reasoned response, or making a positive contribution to the class.

3. Participation points are stored in the class folder. You may check the folder before or after class. If you see any errors, you must report them as soon as possible.

Grading Policy

Major grades: Essays, Tests, Exams

Minor grades: Reading Quizzes, Vocabulary Quizzes

Daily grades: Activities, Speeches, Notebook Checks, Participation 

Failure and Incomplete Work Policy

1. It is critical for you to learn good study and work habits. 

2. Failing a quiz or assignment does not mean that you should just move on. It is important that you understand the information that was given on that quiz or assignment so that you can go forward instead of falling behind. Because of this, if you should fail a quiz or assignment, you may be required at the next available classroom or lunch/recess opportunity to re-read selections, engage in remedial learning, or complete assigned tasks. 

Late Work

1. Late homework assignments will not receive credit. They will be scored as a 0 if not submitted and as a 1 if submitted late.

2. Late essays and major assignments will receive a 10-point deduction for every late day.

About Your Teacher

Mr. Stallings is here to help you. Don’t be afraid to ask him a question or bring a concern to him. He will not harm you and carries no known communicable diseases! He became a teacher to help you, so please take full advantage of the opportunity to be in his class. If something is bothering you about class, please talk to him as soon as possible; he cannot fix a problem that he does not know about.
