2019 Summer Reading Program

In preparation for the 2019 Summer Vacation, the Charleston County School District has partnered with the Charleston County Public Library to promote the 2019 Summer Reading program. Please see the flyer linked here on the left for more information about the program.

If you would like to register for a CCPL library card, just visit the CCPL website here for more information on library card registration.

Reading Suggestions

Is your child struggling to find a book or series that he or she is truly interested in? If so, the following resources may be able to help:

  • Reading Suggestions Lists - These lists contain popular and award-winning titles that are all available for check out in the SJSEMS Media Center. Under each book, you'll find the author's name, interest grade level, and a link to the book's description in our online library catalog.
  • SJSEMS Online Catalog - Was there a genre of books that you loved to read as a child? If so, your child may love reading that genre as well. Search for a books by author, keyword, or title using our online library catalog. If the book is in, your child may check it out in the SJSEMS Library.
  • NoveList K-8 Plus - This free database provides hundreds of detailed book suggestions and search options for finding the perfect book. If you or your child find a book on NoveList that is not available at the SJSEMS library, contact Mrs. Marlowe to see if she can borrow it from another CCSD school.
  • Charleston County Public Library - Visit the CCPL website for information on how you and your child can sign up for a county library card.
