Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
LEARNING IN 3DIMENSIONAL SCIENCE CLASSROOMS
Into Science takes a student-centered approach. Students increase their science proficiency by taking an active part in their learning through hands-on activity and discovery that aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) pedagogy.
There are three main components that align Into Science with NGSS:
Three-Dimensional Learning
Performance Expectations
Claims-Evidence-Reasoning Framework
Three-Dimensions of Learning
Each lesson includes a 3D objective that aligns to the Performance Expectations your child must meet to advance to the next grade-level. This braided approach ensures a quality 3D learning experience for students.
Into Science states Performance Expectations at the beginning of each unit and reiterates them throughout the lessons in that unit. These statements combine the Three Dimensions of Learning to describe how students can show what they have learned.
Throughout Into Science, students use Claims, Evidence and Reasoning (CER) to:
make a statement, or claim, that answers a question or problem
conduct data research and collect evidence to support their statement
provide justification for how their evidence supports their initial statement
You'll notice that CER is intertwined within the entire structure of the Into Science program.
