Course Changes:
According to the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy, students can make course changes within the first 5 days of a semester class and within the first 10 days of a yearlong class and should connect with their School Counselor via email prior to school starting to request a change or students can come to School Counseling on the first days of school during the time of the course they wish to change and speak to their counselor.
Teacher preference requests cannot be granted.
Personal preference requests such as course order cannot be granted. Class sections are carefully balanced to optimize the learning environment for all students.
All changes cannot always be made and are subject to availability. Students should keep this in mind when making course requests since we cannot always accommodate change requests.
Parent approval is required for schedule changes involving core classes.
Virtual SC may be used to supplement the school day for students in unique scheduling situations. No core classes are allowed through Virtual SC. Seniors cannot take graduation requirements through Virtual SC with the exception of an elective classes such as PE but the credit must be earned before 2nd semester. 9th and 10th graders may elect to take Health or Personal Finance online if they would like to take an additional class and forgo an ILT.
Yearlong classes cannot be moved anytime after drop add and cannot be moved mid year to accommodate changing semester 2 block class changes.
Level Changes:
Students can move from a CP level course to an Honors level course within the first 10 days of a semester course and the first 20 days of a yearlong course.*
Level changes from Honors to CP can be made within the first 4.5 weeks of a semester course and the first 9 weeks of a yearlong course. Students take their grade to the new class with them.*
* Level changes made after the first 10 days of a term will result in a WP (Withdraw Pass) on a student's transcript per new state policy. A WP will not negatively impact a student's GPA.
* All schedule changes or level changes are dependent on space availability in the other course during the same time period and cannot be guaranteed.
* Parent approval is required for level changes.
