If you are interested in participating in the AVID college and career readiness program at JICHS for the 2024-25 school year, please review the following information.
Acceptance into the AVID program is based on the information provided in the application, attendance, discipline, academics, a recommendation from your teachers, and a group interview. Participating in the AVID program is a four-year commitment that requires community service and participating in school events, including the annual Trojan Trot 5K and the AVID Awards Ceremony. AVID scholars must also enroll in advanced courses (honors, AP, and/or IB).
If you are accepted into the AVID program, you will have to agree to the following statements.
I agree to enroll in the AVID class for the entire academic year.
I agree to take notes in all my core subject areas as required in AVID
I agree to keep my work organized as required by AVID.
I agree to maintain good attendance and be punctual for all my classes.
I agree to participate fully in tutorials as required by AVID.
I agree to participate in field trips, college visitation and other AVID activities where you meet the qualifications.
I agree to keep my parents fully informed of AVID program activities.
I agree to complete all my assignments in all classes, including AVID.
I agree to ask for help, talk to my AVID teacher or counselor if necessary.
I agree to keep a positive attitude and be enthusiastic about preparing for college.
