James Simons Kaleidoscope is an after-school program that provides students with a safe, engaging, and supportive environment beyond the school day. Students have time for homework, outdoor play, creative activities, and enrichment clubs that allow them to explore new interests and build friendships.
We welcome students from diverse backgrounds and strive to create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected, and supported. Our staff focuses on building positive relationships with students while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and personal growth.
Through hands-on activities, games, clubs, and group experiences, Kaleidoscope gives students opportunities to learn new skills, develop social connections, and have fun in a structured and welcoming setting.
๐โจ A Typical Day at James Simons Kaleidoscope โจ๐
๐ 2:30 PM โ 3:15 PM : Arrival Check In
Students check in with their grade group and head outside to play, unwind, and enjoy time with friends!
๐ฝ 3:20 PM - 3:45 PM:ย Supper Time
Each group heads to the cafeteria and enjoys a supper with their group (See below for a Supper & Snack Example Schedule)
๐จ๐ 4:00 PM โ5:00 PM:ย Options Time & Homework Club
Students can choose how they spend their time and are able to move freely between different activity areas throughout Options Time:ย
โจ Homework Club โ Quiet space to finish schoolworkย
๐จ Creative Centers in Cafeteria โ Art, building, board games, and daily projects
๐ Gym Games โ Group games and sports
๐ณ Playground โ Outdoor play with some music and fresh air
โญ Daily Clubs โ Volleyball, Girls Club, Spanish, Nintendo Switch, STEM, Chess, Perler Beads and More!
๐ 5:00โ6:00 PM:ย Free Play Until All Kids Go Home!
Students enjoy a group game or playground time, and snack is available for students to grab as they are picked up!
