Create Account
Your online GED® account is the place where tests are scheduled and scores are retrieved. If you are enrolled in our GED Preparation Program, we will assist you with creating this account, scheduling, and paying for your tests.
If you prefer to pay for your own tests, creating an account is easy. Just go to GED.com to get started.
In South Carolina, if you are under age 19, you must first create your MyGED account, then submit the Verification of Withdrawal from South Carolina Schools form for age approval to vow@ed.sc.gov before scheduling your GED tests.
Study
We offer GED preparation classes, free of charge. Our certified teachers will help you customize a study plan to help you focus on the subjects you need the most. Once you have met your instructional goals, your teacher will refer you for GED testing.
schedule the Test
If you are enrolled with our program, your teacher will refer you for testing and assist you with the scheduling process and payment as soon as you demonstrate readiness in a subject area. If you prefer to take the tests on your own, they are $37.50 each.
To schedule on your own:
Simply log into your GED® account.
Select Charleston Adult Education Testing Center at SCWorks, 1930 Hanahan Road, North Charleston, SC.
Choose the subject you’ll be taking.
Pick a day and time that works for you.
Pay $37.50 for the test online using a credit or debit card.
If you need special accommodations, scheduling must be done through the PearsonVUE accommodations team. Please visit the GED Testing Service Accommodations page for more information.
passing score
To earn your high school equivalency diploma, you’ll need to score 145 or higher on all four subjects.
Scoring above 165 (on any test subject) means you have demonstrated you are ready to take college level courses and you may qualify for waivers from placement testing or developmental education requirements if you enroll in college.
Scoring above 175 (on any test subject) means you have demonstrated skills that could qualify for up to 10 college credit hours.
TI-30-XS
Testing candidates may use a calculator on the following GED tests: Science, Social Studies, and Mathematical Reasoning Part 2. We will loan you a TI-30-XS handheld calculator if you prefer not to use the on-screen calculator embedded in the test.
