FIRST is an Organization that forms around Robotics. FIRST comprises of FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Lego League.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen. FIRST has combined the rigor of STEM learning with the fun and excitement of traditional sports and the inspiration that comes from community through programs that have a proven impact on learning, interest and skill-building inside and outside of the classroom.

The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation and foster well-rounded life capabilities including: self-confidence, communication and leadership.
