Welcome to our class page!
My name is Ms. Romano and this is my 10th year teaching and my 4th year at Chariho! I am very grateful to be a part of this community and am really excited for our upcoming year together!
My goal for this year is that we all learn more about who we are as individuals, that we have fun, grow through our challenges, and that we support each other along the way!
A little bit about my background, I started my career as a farmer and gardener. One year, I decided to try oyster farming. While farming, I met many immigrants from Central America. They taught me Spanish and I taught them English; we learned a lot together and they encouraged me to start teaching English in Providence. I volunteered at the Providence Public Libraries and started teaching English to people from all over the world. I learned a ton about different countries and cultures. I enjoyed the experience so much that I completed a year serving as an Americorp member teaching in Providence Public Schools and went back to school to become a teacher.
In my personal life, I grew up in Rhode Island and live in Westerly. This past year, my husband Mike and I welcomed a sweet baby girl, Cora, who is now 6 months young and she has brought so much joy into our lives. A few years ago, we rescued two beautiful dogs, Willa and,Brody and they are always challenging us and keeping us active! In my free time, I love to travel, hike, snowboard, garden, read, write and listen to music.
I love teaching and I love Biology! I am so eager to begin the 2021-2022 school year and I am excited to be on this journey with you. Please email me if ever you have a question or concern.
