Chardon competes in some of the larger tournaments in the country, in one of the most competitive regions of one of the most competitive states. We succeed when students are dedicated, attending and actively participating in their meetings and studying and practicing on their own. Because students compete in groups of two or three in each event, meetings will emphasize hands on participation and group learning.
There is a general meeting for all Science Olympiad members on Wednesday afternoons. Additionally most events have meetings once a week.
Attendance at ALL meetings is mandatory.
If you cannot attend a General (Wednesday afternoon) Meeting, you must send an email to the head coaches and administrators before the meeting starts.
(Students who have a recurring conflict should send a one-time note reminding us about your conflict and if/when it resolves for the year).
If you cannot attend a particular Event Meeting you must notify the Event Coach before the meeting's scheduled start time; ideally, at least a day earlier via email - the earlier the better.
(Students who have a recurring Event Meeting conflict should notify both the event coach and the head coach in writing regarding the nature and duration of your conflict, and any alternative days and times you are free to meet.)
We use email to share news about the team. Students are expected to read their Chardon Schools email regularly, and respond when requested.
