Got a brilliant book you can’t stop talking about? Why not share it by taking part in our Audiobook Series!
It’s easy to get involved — just record yourself reading the first chapter of your favourite book. Start your recording like this:
“Hello, my name is [Your Name] from Year [Your Year], and I’m going to read from [Book Title] by [Author].” For example: “Hello, my name is Molly from Year 8 and I’m going to read from Safiyyah’s War by Hiba Noor Khan.”
Then, read the first chapter clearly and confidently. When you’ve finished, tell us a bit about why you love this book and why others should read it too — what makes it special, exciting, or unforgettable?
Finally, email your recording to Dr Hayward (ehayward@channing.co.uk). Merits for every submission.
Let’s inspire each other to discover amazing stories — one chapter at a time!
Listen to Mrs Hughes read from Jeeves and Wooster – a witty, light-hearted comedy about the well-meaning but often clueless Bertie Wooster and his brilliantly clever valet, Jeeves. When the world feels a bit overwhelming, stories like this offer a joyful escape, full of ridiculous situations, sharp humour and unforgettable characters. Let Mrs Hughes’s reading draw you into Wodehouse’s wonderfully silly world and remind you how books can lift your mood, spark your imagination, and make you laugh out loud.
Listen to Dr Hayward read and review A Gathering Light by Jennifer Donnelly here.
Listen to Ms Wilkinson read and review The Weirdstone of Brisingamen: A Tale of Alderleyhe here.
Listen to Ms Penglase read from Mark Haddon's mystery novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.
