This is Ms. Mages’ fifth year at CHAMPS and fifth year teaching Journalism. While Ms. Mages’ background is in performing arts, she has always enjoyed written arts and is enjoying learning more about the industry along with her students.

My accomplishment is getting this far without retaking the year. The biggest flex because the way I was getting through those years you'd think I was a scholar to be that nonchalant. 

Keira Berens is a senior at champs charter high school. This will be her 2nd year of taking journalism and 4th year of taking a writing class. Keira has been playing volleyball for 6 years and also partakes in snowboarding and pickleball. 

Eli Landau is 16 years old and a Senior.  He has finished English in high school and college.  Eli loves reading, listening to music, watching tv, and acting.  His favorite book is The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting by Evanna Lynch, he has too many favorite songs to choose, his current favorite TV show is American Horror Story, his favorite movie is Little Miss Sunshine, and he strives to be a drama actor.  Also Eli is obsessed with Harry Potter and is re-reading the books right now.

Pilar is a 17 year old poet and she posts small poems on a writing website, although she doesn’t have a lot of people that follow her, she writes in her spare time. She is inspired by a lot of different things such as different songwriters, poets, and philosophers. Some of her favorite authors are Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe, Fyodor Dostyovesky, Charles Bukowski, Friedrich Nietzsche, etc. 

Daniel is 16 years old, and likes writing horror stories.

Adrian Wilson-Gardner is a senior at CHAMPS and a part of the Digital Media Arts Academy. He specializes in digital art and graphic design, with an certification as an Adobe Photoshop Professional. As the editor of CHAMPS Key Club, he manages their instagram page and writes their monthly article reports. He is a part of the Division 16 South Leadership team holding the position of News Editor for the division's monthly newsletter. Although he has abundant skill in design, he plans to go into a career within the  medicine field.  Nevertheless, he has a vast background in editorial design and is excited to bring his skills to the staff of The Paw Print this year.

Nevaeh is a senior at Champs who has lived in Massachusetts(grew up there), Tennessee, and now California. She is passionate about making art in many different forms and educating herself on all different subjects because learning is something she highly enjoys. She is passionate about being a part of the process of filmmaking and is in the film academy at Champs. Over this past summer she has been a part of a teen internship at the Getty museum and was touring groups K-12 throughout the museum. Nevaeh loves Chinese food and is learning Mandarin Chinese right now and is highly enjoying the process of doing so. She highly values her family, friends, mentors, and peers greatly and hopes that they know how much they mean to her and are valued. She loves music a lot and has music playing almost 24/7. Some of her favorite artists include Ichiko Aoba, Sleep Token, Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, LADYBABY, Jazmine Bean, Poppy, K-pop and many many more. She has been in an art school since seventh grade so throughout those years she has been able to experiment in many different art forms which has allowed her to evolve a deep love for the creation and observation of art. In college she hopes to study film studies/production, museum studies, art history/history, and maybe even Chinese language and culture. She is a very friendly person, all it takes to make that connection is a simple hello so she hopes that now after getting to know a bit more about her people will feel more comfortable to approach her. She truly loves making new friends!

Eric is a person who enjoys life's simple pleasures. Some of his future goals include having a stable job and a cozy living space with some pets like maybe a couple cats and some dogs. He  sometimes worries about his mental health, but for now, he’s just hoping for the best.

Interests:

In his free time, he finds joy in playing games, drawing, and spending time with his cat. School can be a bit tiring, and he wishes classes started later in the day, but he understands that's just how life works. He's super proud of his hamster, Peanut, who lived for an impressive three years. 

What I Do:

He usually spends his days listening to music while working or relaxing. Playing games and drawing are other hobbies of his, and his cat keeps him company. Napping is a favorite pastime, and if he's not doing any of these, you'll find him scrolling on his phone or watching YouTube. 

He's a decent drawer and can craft a cool stick figure. Has a good knowledge of animals, a passion he developed as a bookworm when he was younger. Building things, such as furniture or small robotic projects, is another interest of his. Respect is a significant value for him, and he believes in treating others kindly. While he may seem reserved, he simply finds it challenging to engage in small talk.
