Editors and Staff
Colette Walsh is a part of the editing team for the PawPrint and is a Senior Student at CHAMPS. Colette has been a dancer for most of her life and was a part of the CHAMPS Dance Academy for her first two years of high school. She then joined the Vocal Arts Academy for her junior year and landed as a member of the Written Arts Academy. Through each of these art forms she has stayed focused on pursuing a career in dance and is currently applying to dance programs after high school. As a member of the yearbook staff her junior year, Colette is an experienced writer and is excited to be a part of the CHAMPS PawPrint this year!
Eli Landau is 16 years old and a Junior. He is taking English in college instead of high school so he can earn more credits and he is also an editor for the CHAMPS PawPrint. Some accomplishments of Eli’s is that he is in recovery from his eating disorder, he earned his black belt in Taekwondo at 14, and he is now starting dance. Eli loves reading, listening to music, watching tv, and acting. His favorite book is The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting by Evanna Lynch, he has too many favorite songs to choose, his current favorite TV show is American Horror Story, his favorite movie is Barbie, and he strives to be a drama actor.
Gabriella Moceri is a sophomore student who was passionate about journalism from the very beginning. She helped spread the word about this class and even took a summer school class just so she could be in journalism. She has many hobbies such as drawing, baking, crochet, crafting, and writing. She’s a punctual, hard working student who is never missing an assignment and gets along well with almost anyone she meets. She is the president of Baking club and the vice president of the Crochet club. (Dictated, not read)
Victoria Munoz is a junior at Champs Charter. She is an aspiring journalist who intends to get a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in journalism at her dream school, University of Oregon. She has taken creative writing, journalism, and college ready writing. Her skills include communication and her ability to always strive to improve at the things she loves. She values hard work, loyalty, and self respect. She strives to make an impact on the world. Her hobbies include reading,listening to music and cuddling with her dogs.
Daniel is 16 years old, and likes writing horror stories.
This is Ms. Mages’ third year at CHAMPS and second year teaching Journalism. While Ms. Mages’ background is in performing arts, she has always enjoyed written arts and is enjoying learning more about the industry along with her students.

Lizbeth Arellano is a senior at CHAMPS and has been attending CHAMPS since her freshman year. She is an accomplished debater and has been the captain of the CHAMPS debate team for two years now. She tries to incorporate personal anecdotes and opinions in every piece she writes. She will only write about things that she thinks are important for people to know about while tying it to how people may relate to a story. Some things that she advocates for and believes in are equality, freedom of speech, freedom of choice, and statistical data. She also wishes to make an impact on the world.
Alicia Avalos (she/they) is a sophomore at CHAMPS Charter High School. They like crafting and making art, whether that be crocheting, drawing, origami, needle-felting, or something else. Fittingly, they’re the leader of Crochet Club. Also, they’re the co-vice president of Baking Club. In her spare time, she likes listening to Taylor Swift, sitting in the furniture section of Macey’s, or doing both at the same time. (Dictated, not read)
Maria Ayala goes to Champs Charter HS. She loves her dogs and plays video games such as Call of duty, GTA, Dead by daylight. She also loves watching horror movies. She accomplished getting good grades and tried to learn a new language, but it just wasn't for her. Her life motto is “it is what it is”. Her goal is to graduate high school and become the first to do it in her family and study criminology or veterinarian.
Jack Waters joined journalism this school year. He joined journalism for this school year because he has always been interested in writing stories for a newspaper. He always wanted to do something for the school newspaper in high school but I didn’t have the chance to in his 9th grade year. Now that they’re offering journalism as a class in 10th grade he decided to join. He has good research skills and tries to make his articles as informative as possible. He's very quiet, nice, friendly and intelligent. He hopes a lot of his articles make the school newspaper and that it helps inform people about stuff going on whether it’s in the world or around the school.
Julie is an aspiring sports commentator her intended major is to get a bachelor's degree in Journalism. She has taken Advanced Creative Writing during 11th grade. Some of her skills are good communication skills, good listener, helpful and tutor. One of her stories that she wrote about Syncope she submitted to Reflections and she got a letter saying about an interview with a Nobel peace prize winner at Washington DC. Some things she values are creativity,courage,honesty, family and communication. Some of her goals are to be able to tell news through writing and being able to improve on her writing and communication skills. She wants to make an impact in the world of journalism.
Leslie Flores, a senior here at CHAMPS, is a writer for the Paw Print. She joined Journalism in hopes of practicing her writing and, ultimately, becoming a better writer. She’s an aspiring screenwriter and enjoys writing stories, poetry, and, of course, screenplays. She’s open to criticism and strives to write articles that everyone can enjoy. Aside from writing, she enjoys reading books and watching her favorite films over and over again.
Valentina Hartleben is a 16 year old girl, born and raised in Guatemala. After spending her whole life in Guatemala she moved to Los Angeles so she could pursue her dreams. She is very good at comprehension and communication, her will to do things also plays an important role in the performance of her work. Valentina values hard work and compromise since it’s what she gives out. She also wants to be very knowledgeable and that’s why she decided to take this course, to have experience. Trial and error is another thing she really values, understanding that making mistakes can be valuable and life’s all about learning. Valentina’s biggest goal in life is to make the people around her feel seen and to be able to really experience things.
Gabe Malone goes to Champs Charter HS and in 10th grade he loves to cook many different types of food and learns different ways to make them better. He also plays video games, such as Overwatch 2, MK1, Dead By Deadlight, Apex, and Rainbow Six Siege. He accomplished getting good grades and learned a new language. His value is “Just having a good life, I only live once so I make it count” he says. His goals are to graduate high school and study to become a plastic surgeon or dermatologist, and to become a model.
Lulu Sobel is a Junior, and member of the Treble Ensemble in the Vocal Music Academy. They transferred to CHAMPS for the spring semester of 2023, and this is their first year writing for the Paw Print. They are a CETA award winner and black belt in karate, but more importantly, Lulu is very, very awesome. They are interested in all sorts of art, and trying new things, which is why they take a lot of classes, including journalism. They are very easily distracted by TV Tropes pages, and rarely be found sleeping. Passionate about trying to understand people, and a fan of comics, manga, and pop culture in general, they seek to write articles that show you their world, and maybe make you laugh.
Melissa Perez is a student at Champs Charter High School Of Arts. She is skilled at typing fast and drawing. Her accomplishments are to be skilled at journalism. Her values are her family and friends. Her goals include to be very successful and skilled at my writing.
Meri is a writer for the CHAMPS Paw Print. She is a sophomore at CHAMPS. Her passion is baking and would like to open a bakery in Paris. She can look mean at first but once you get to know her, she will brighten up your life. She loves listening to rock and will rock out to it anytime, anywhere. Her most favorites are “Deftones” and “My Chemical Romance”. She loves laughing at anything and will probably make you laugh because of her laugh.
Nathan Marvin is a kindhearted, confident and kind of silly person. His skills consist of multiple varieties including artistic, physical skills, and mind skills.
First of all he likes drawing pictures of cartoon characters and video game characters. Since last year his art-style has improved exponentially. He also loves running and playing baseball.
Another skill that he has is his creativity when it comes to Lego bricks. He has loved building with Lego's since he was six or seven years old and since that day when he got his very first Lego set, he’s had it as a passion ever since.

Stephanie De La Cueva is a student at CHAMPS. Her goals are to try to pass all her classes. She believes that everyone should be respected and treated equally. Her favorite hobby is reading and spending time with people she loves. She has accomplished not getting bad grades.
Neylin Saravia goes to Champs Charter High School. She is in 10th grade. She likes to translate for people and help anyone who needs it. She loves to cook and tries to make new dishes. Neylin has accomplished many things and now started coming to school early, saving money, and getting a job. She values family and friends. Her goals are getting good grades and graduating high school.
