About 15.08% of youth between ages 12-17 years old have depressive episodes. Many teenagers and kids have depression although some of them don't even know that they have it. Many parents don’t pay attention to it because they believe that their kids just want attention but in reality they don’t want attention. The most common symptom of having depression is sadness for no reason most of the time. Having no motivation to do things, closing their doors and staying in their rooms for many hours. It’s very common that relatives have depression and pass it along to their family members. Many people don’t realize that this is a serious matter and many kids and teenagers don’t know how to handle it alone. Many youth feel like no one would understand what they are going through or why is this happening to them. They may feel very anxious and may want to harm themselves in any way. Depression isn’t something to joke around or to laugh at, depression is something serious and many people can feel very sensitive in any way. I feel like what people can do is ask if they are okay and listen to anything that they want to vent. You should ask if they want your company or ask if they need anything. Many people would just feel happy with just having company so this is why we need to be serious about depression and not joke about it.🐾
