Fall 2025 out now!
Why Timothée Chalamet is the Best
By Eli Landau
Timothée Chalamet is my fiancée, so back off before you get any ideas while reading my article bragging about him. As of right now he is 28 years old and has been nominated for 105 awards including one Oscar! He was nominated for Best Actor for his Role of Elio in Call Me By Your Name 2018 when he was only 23 years old. Timothée is the youngest person to be nominated for best actor since 1940!
Timothée Chalamet is best known for his roles (in order) in these movies: Wonka (as Willy Wonka), Call Me By Your Name (as Elio), Beautiful Boy (as Nic Sheff), Dune (as Paul Atreides), and Lady Bird (as Kyle Scheible). Let’s dive into these roles (in order from my least fav to fav):
Wonka (as Willy Wonka):
He played a very different role from his usual roles. He played a light hearted, eccentric character with wit. Personally, I found his acting subpar to his usual works, however, his acting (and singing) was still amazing.
Lady Bird (as Kyle Scheible):
Timothée played an altogether shallow character, Kyle, but was a hard character to portray.
Dune (as Paul Atreides):
Paul Atreides was also a very difficult character to portray for many reasons. 1 being his high amount of screen time, 2 being his character's anger. Paul yells a lot, and Timothée being a silly guy makes portraying this type of character fairly difficult.
Call Me By Your Name (as Elio):
This is the movie that gave Timothée his Oscar nomination at age 23 in 2018. He is the youngest person in 84 years to be nominated for Best Actor! Timothée had to know how to speak English, French, and Italian for this part, though he already knew English and French as his father is French. This is one of my favorite movies with Timothée!
Beautiful Boy (as Nic Sheff):
This movie is my all time favorite Timothée Chalamet movie!!! Not only is the movie itself amazing, (and really heartbreaking because it is based on a true story) but Timothée’s acting is AMAZING (as is the rest of the cast of course)! There was a lot of struggling on Timothée’s end behind the scenes because he had to portray a really emotionally hard character and it took a toll on his mental, and physical health.
Thank you for reading my yap session about my beautiful fiancée. 🐾
