      About 13.7 million cars are sold every year with prices ranging from just $1,000 to over $40,000. But have you ever wondered what the most expensive car ever sold was? It’s definitely way more than you would think.

      If you were asked to give an estimate on how much the most expensive car ever sold was, you might give an answer like $5,000,000, or even $10,000,000. However, you'd be surprised to know that these prices are like dimes compared to the actual price. The name of the car is: Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe; and it was sold for $142,000,000. To put that into perspective for you, there is a mega-mansion in Bel-Air labeled, “America’s Most Expensive Residence,” that costs about $126,000,000. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe costs over $15,000,000 more than the most expensive house in America.

      But why is this car so expensive in the first place? Well, the simple answer is that this specific model of car was only made very few times and they belonged to the Mercedes owner. However one was sold to a man named Simon Kidston on May 7th, 2022 and although the car itself runs just fine, the main value of it comes from its 1 of 1 rarity and rich history.

      How good is the car at actually driving? Well, it’s been reported to drive like any other car, but with some of that rich lifestyle incorporated into it. While it only has 2 seats, it has a big space in the back for any kind of storage. The main reason anyone would buy this car would just be to flex it everywhere they went.

      In conclusion, out of all of the 13.7 millions cars sold per year, sometime in 2022, the most expensive car in history was sold to a man for $142,000,000, costing more than the most expensive house in America. With the reason for the big price being its rich history, and overall rarity. 🐾
