Excursions

All excursions depart from the hotel on Monday afternoon at 1:15pm and last 3.5-4 hours

what to bring/ wear

All excursions are rain, snow, sleet or shine.  Plan accordingly.  You will not be able to change excursions from the one you originally signed up for.

Whitewater Rafting: We recommend that you wear a bathing suit with a dry change of clothes over top. We will provide rafting jackets, pants and a wet suit, if necessary. We have neoprene booties available or you can wear shoes that will stay on your feet and can get wet (flip flops are not appropriate). You will be able to leave your dry clothes and valuable on the bus during the trip, as there is a driver with the vehicle.  The sun is powerful, so we recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a hat for protection.  Sunglasses are also recommended, but make sure to wear a croakie strap to prevent them from falling in the river. Photos will be taken from shore and are available for purchase following your trip.

Cruiser Bike Tour: We recommend wearing comfortable clothing. On warm, sunny days we recommend shorts, a T‐shirt, and tennis shoes. On cool days we recommend a sweater or light jacket. We provide rain jackets on wet days, but its always a good idea to bring your own if you have it.  You won’t need much in personal gear, as we provide all of your equipment, including bikes and helmets. Sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended. If you would like to ride clipless pedals on our singletrack trips then plan on bringing your own pedals and shoes, as all of our tours use flat pedals.

Jeep Tour, Brewery Event & Ice Age Discovery Talk & Tour:  We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and bringing layers and rain gear.  Temperatures and weather can change rapidly, so while you are either inside a vehicle (or in the distillery ) for most of the time, it’s a good idea to be prepared.  Overall these are casual tours, so no need to dress up!

Hiking Tours:   We recommend dressing in layers and wearing good hiking or trail shoes. The morning temperatures are always cooler at higher elevations and mountain weather conditions are always subject to sudden changes.  Low or high hiking shoes are always better for trail grip especially on Intermediate and ¾ day trips. Please bring your own pack if you have one, camera, sunglasses, sunscreen or hat.

Masterpiece & Mine, Paint & Wine Event: We recommend wearing comfortable clothes, that you will not mind if a little bit of acrylic paint gets on. The artist will supply aprons. Bring your creativity. This event will take place at the Viewline resort.

RIVER RAFTING ADVENTURE

Upper Roaring Fork – Thunder River: The Upper Roaring Fork was named Thunder River by Ute Indians to describe the rumbling sound that begins in early spring. This early season trip begins just 5 miles outside of Aspen at the Woody Creek Bridge and ends 3 miles above Basalt. Total river distance is 8 miles. This section features beautiful scenery and wildlife, and exceptional whitewater on class III rapids. This section’s close proximity to Snowmass Village means that very little transportation time is involved.

BACK COUNTRY JEEP TOUR

Gold Hill Tour - Aspen Mountain: This jeep tour travels up Aspen Mountain, traversing through verdant meadows and Blue Spruce forests. Once on top, we skirt along the crest of Gold Hill Ridge, affording fantastic views of the Continental Divide on one side, and the Montezuma Basin area on the other. Finally, we head back down past old mines and cabins dating back to Aspen’s earliest days. Summer wildflowers or fall colors are abundant and there is ample opportunity for picture taking and strolling. A refreshing snack is served along the way

WILDERNESS HIKE

Hiking at the Maroon Bells Half Day: You cannot leave Aspen without experiencing the Maroon Bells. These peaks are considered the most photographed peaks in North America.  Driving is limited for the public BUT not for Blazing Adventure's guests!  With our permits we have special admittance to drive all the way to Maroon Lake for easy access to miles and miles of beautiful trails.  Let our trained guides weave you through endless aspen grooves or safely hike you up Crater Lake.  This is a must see!

Please note: Upon arriving at Maroon Bells, the guides will break everyone into two groups:

1. Novice- This downhill hike starts at Maroon Lake at the base of the Maroon Bells and travels along Maroon Creek to East Maroon Portal. Distance is 3 miles going down 600 vertical feet. Trail time is about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on guest’s skill level

2. Intermediate- East Maroon Portal Uphill -  Maroon Portal sits next to Maroon Creek and offers spectacular views of aspen and evergreen forests. The elevation gain during this hike is approximately 600 vertical feet over 3 miles over a trail of about 11-15% grade

cruiser bicycle tour

Maroon Bells & Lake - Maroon Creek Valley: Our tour begins with a drive to the “most photographed peaks in North America” – the Maroon Bells and Maroon Lake. At Maroon Lake there will be time for photographs and to talk about the local wildlife. After everyone has limbered up, you will begin your 12-mile downhill descent on a paved road through the Maroon Valley. Along the way, you are welcome to stop and enjoy the spectacular views, and to photograph one of the most picturesque wilderness areas in Colorado. Your trip finishes in Aspen. We will stop for a refreshing snack along the way. The Maroon Bells road is closed to most vehicular traffic for the majority of the summer and affords a perfect opportunity to enjoy your downhill bike ride

Co Brewery Tour & Tasting

When most beer nerds think about the Craft Brew Industry, Colorado is the first place that comes to mind. The first micro brewery in the state opened in 1979 and Colorado quickly became the epicenter of the craft beer movement. By 1985, 100 craft breweries were operating in the United States and that number has grown exponentially, with over 9,500 craft breweries in the US today. The Roaring Fork Valley is running with that tradition, with six established microbreweries in a valley of only around 30,000 people. On this tour, we will visit one of our favorite breweries, Mountain Heart Brewing in Carbondale, Colorado. This is the valley’s newest microbrewery, but has quickly established itself as one of the best and gained a local following among local beer enthusiasts. We will begin by grabbing a beer and meeting with the head brewer for a tour of their small barrel system. He will teach us about the brewing process from start to finish and answer any questions you may have about brewing and distributing on a large scale. Next, we do a tasting of the collection of beers they have on tap, from pilsners to IPAs to a variety of sours. You will appreciate the ride home, with a happy palate and a newfound knowledge and appreciation of brewing.

MASTERPIECE & MINE Painting class

Bring out your true artistic skills and join us for a Masterpiece & Mine Paint Class. Local Aspen artist Lorrain Davis will be guiding you step by step through the painting process. This class is for all levels, everyone will leave with a beautiful painting of the Maroon Bells. Class will take place at the Viewline Resort, we will be providing beverages.

ICE AGE DISCOVERY TALK & TOUR

The tour is a 90 minute dive into the incredible story of the 2010 world-class Snowmass Ice Age Fossil Discovery. Our Aspen Science Center Educator will share fun photos and objects from the dig (fossil casts etc...) and then lead the group on a mural-inspired walking tour through Snowmass Village. The tour tells the story of the scientists, construction workers, local organizations and community members that helped uncover the most significant high elevation fossil site ever discovered. The walk features the incredible murals installed in the Village last year.
