The Visual Arts course fosters a student’s interest and enjoyment in creating and interpreting art. Visual Arts offers a wide range of opportunities for students to develop their interests and to be self- motivated, active learners.
The Visual Arts A course allows students to explore a range of materials with a focus on the theme of water and swimming. Through shared excitement of underwater photography, students explore how water reflects light, creates patterns and distorts the human form. This artistic exploration is supported through learning how other artists have explored this theme at different times. The Visual Arts A course also allows students to explore world culture with a focus on architecture and decorative arts such as mosaic, by observing church architecture and modern European architecture and sculpture. Expressive Forms for the Body of Work may include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, printing, design, mosaic, digital media, installations, documented forms
and ceramics.
Expectations:
Students selecting this course should be able to demonstrate should be able to demonstrate
an interest in developing their artistic pursuits and experimenting with new materials and/or
technologies. Self reflection, collaborative learning and the ability to problem solve.
Individual decision making and creative thinking.
Pathway:
Choose this subject if you have an interest in gaining fundamental skills in a broad range of
expressive forms in Visual Arts, problem solving, working collaboratively and developing a
personal narrative through art. Tertiary training in the Visual Arts may lead to professions in graphic design, architecture, illustration, interior design, gallery curator, professional artist, teaching,
art therapy, animator, film producer and photo journalism.
