Iowa Children's Choice Award
Students in Grades 4-6 are encouraged to read quality literature. In order to promote reading and to participate in the state of Iowa book vote, North Cedar students are given an incentive to read books nominated for the Iowa Children's Choice Award by students and teachers from across the state of Iowa.
To participate in the state vote, students will need to read at least 4 of the books between the first day of school and February 15th. An electronic voting ballot will be sent to students who have met this requirement.
Students are also encouraged to read even more of these nominated titles. An award gathering will be held in May to celebrate students who fufill the following reading criteria:
Read the following number of books according to grade level:
4th Grade reads 6 books
5th Grade reads 8 books
6th Grade reads 10 books
Complete and submit a brief book report for each book read
Read books and submit forms for each book by the first Friday in May
