Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative Artificial Intelligence, which has been more recent with Large Language Models (LLM), are creating benefits and also challenges for education. There is no doubt that AI will be an ever growing part of all of our lives, with models continuedly getting better and more robust. One of the challenges we face as educators is to leverage this tool to broaden opportunities for students with their learning as well as provide opportunities for students to use AI as a tool in developing and demonstrating their own learning.
This page will serve as a hub for resources and information around how AI will be used within the Cedar Falls School District. Starting in the 25-26 school year, an AI Coalition will begin meeting regularly to dig deeper into what this looks like in the classroom.
To start the 24-25 school year, the district created this guidance on the use of AI within the educational environment.Â
