Keying Fluency Student Expectations/Timeline for 3rd Graders using Typing Club

• Student take the 3rd Grade Typing Test before starting any lessons. The typing test is taken anytime before the end of September

• There are a couple of options for students just getting started with typing before the next typing test in November. They can do one or the other or both. It is up to you.

  • 1. • Complete lessons 1-42 within Typing Basics before the next typing test in November. This option is more old school. It covers the very basics and not much more.

       • Work within Typing Jungle. Lessons 1-80 will cover the basic keys along with games, videos and practice. This is the newer option from Typing Club.

• The 3rd Grade November Typing Test is taken any time in November once they have completed the lessons

• The 3rd Grade Spring Typing Test can be taken any time from the begging of February to Spring Break in March

• 3rd Grade May Typing Test is the last typing test will be given in May for a data point for the end of the school year

Other Information to Keep In Mind

Students can do more lessons if they want and Typing Club can be accessed from home using cfschools.typingclub.com. 

Students should get practice throughout the school year with their classwork using the Chromebooks and Google Apps. If you are looking for more options for further practice within the portal, there is

The fluency goals for 3rd graders are

• Below is less than 9 wpm

• Grade Level is between 9 - 16 wpm AND 95% accuracy or higher

• Above is more than 16 wpm AND 95% accuracy or higher
