Individual & Group Counseling

Short-term counseling may be appropriate for students experiencing difficulties with relationships, mental health, developmental tasks, or other concerns at school or home.

Appraisal and Advisement

School counselors may assess student abilities, interests, values, and achievement to help them plan for and make decisions about their future.

School counselors do not provide therapy or long-term counseling in schools. However, school counselors are prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health needs and assist students and families seeking resources.

What is SEL (social/emotional learning)?

"Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions." - (CASEL, 2020)
